If i remember correctly lky used soccer example to talk about sz. Something like if China wants to compete in the world cup it should send one team instead of splitting the talent into two team to compete with other. Lky quite unhappy about sz local government setup competitor to compete with sz park. The local government also lame say completion is healthy.

Philli yeo also mention in his book that he know sz park is doom to fail and informed the minister when they were in discussions of the project. He say we don't know how chinese do business.

back in the 1990s when they were doing the SIP, I had a friend who was secretary to one of the ministers in charge

he said the ministar often had to fly to suzhou at short notice because the tiongs pulled new stunts again

and it was way before the public had any idea that there were problems aplenty at suzhou

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: I will never take Auntie Sim Ann's words seriously.

Singapore and Suzhou share a longstanding partnership, anchored by the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) project. Established in 1994, the SIP is the first government-to-government project between Singapore and China. Today, the SIP has developed into a modern township with a thriving economy.

The Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) was the first government-to-government project between Singapore and China, and led the way for many other collaborations.

The SIP is a key platform for Singapore companies to access business opportunities in Jiangsu province and other parts of China. Singapore and Jiangsu companies have also forged valuable partnerships through the SIP in areas such as green development and innovation.

Singapore enjoys multifaceted relations with Suzhou, anchored by our first government-to-government project, the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP). Established in 1994, the SIP is a pathfinder for bilateral cooperation and celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. During our discussion, we reaffirmed the SIP’s importance in facilitating regular people-to-people exchanges; serving as a key platform for the two-way internationalisation of our companies; and piloting cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

My cousin was one of the first wave of investors into the project, the stories he mentioned weren’t good.

Thanks Sim Ann for reminding us it's been 30 years.

Still waiting for China to apologise.
