Hi, I have a notebook which I believe that the graphic chip on the mainboard is faulty and I do not wish to just get a new one.

Is Sim Lim Notebook repair shop trustworthy? Any recommendations?

Personal experience:
Few years ago, I have a Acer laptop which can't be powered on.

I went to Shop no. 1 for repairs. They offered diagnosis for free and will update me within 3 days.

3 days went past, they never call. 4th day I called. Shop staff told me they are still working on it and is likely to restore the laptop to working order.

7th day I received a call from the shop asking me to pick my laptop back. They are unable to repair. No charges will be imposed.

I collected the laptop and went to Shop no. 2. Same, diagnosis for free and will update me within 3 days.

3rd day I received a call from shop staff. They told me its likely a M/B issue and they can source for a replacement M/B. However, a critical component (Power starter or something like that) is missing from the laptop.

I had never opened up the laptop before, and the only one that had dismantled it is the 1st shop.

No choice. I had to ask the shop to source for this power starter also. Paid extra for the power starter + M/B replacement.

Laptop broke down again in less than a month after repairs.

Woah! That's pretty dishonest..do you still have the name of the first shop that you went to? So that I could avoid that.

There's a Laptop or PC Hospital located on 4th floor... I've been there to do some repairs and replacements. Pretty honest chap and good at what he does. Price is pretty reasonable as well. Highly recommended really. Can just walk in. He will do some diagnosis without charging you. Will also call you if he needs to change parts other than agreed.

Good workmanship, reliable service, they are also specialized in Apple repair and data recovery.

Check out their website:

Hmmm, I don't think I'd trust them to service/repair my iphone & ipad if & when they are out of warranty; too many of these ah beng shops around.

For notebook/laptop I'd rather pay a bit more for PC Dreams to repair.
