hi, what's the difference between unisim and sim ge? can i enter both if my gpa is low?

unisim, now suss, offers its own degrees. as of 2017, its status changed from being a private university to an autonomous university. it has both full-time and part-time programmes but full-time places are more competitive. for part-time programmes, your GPA doesn't really matter as long as you meet the basic criteria.

sim ge partners with overseas universities to offer degrees so your degree will be awarded by the foreign university. it also has both full-time and part-time courses but it's more expensive than suss. since it's private, your GPA doesn't really matter as well.

from this semester onwards, no difference liao between pt and full time. they align both to have same value..and also,become harder liao for all courses and marking criteria..

both is subsidised bah.

simge is not a local u,technically,its not recognised IN GENERAL. like kaplan etc.

yes there are some differences e.g. for full time programmes, they all have to take some common curriculum modules. these are broader in nature (e.g. thinking and reasoning) and aren't directly relevant to their programmes. they also have other stuff like overseas experience, work attachment and some service project. full time programmes are direct honours programmes. however, some of their modules may be the same as part time students i.e. they are enrolled in the same classes as part time students and they attend evening lessons.

for part time students, you have the option to graduate with a basic degree or you may be invited to do the honours programme if your GPA is 3.5 and above.

both full time and part time programmes are subsidised but if you compare them, the school fees for full time programmes are higher.

i understand your concern about whether it's recognised but i'm not sure how we can answer you. like if you're asking whether they're recognised by employers, some employers only take in graduates from certain universities while others don't really bother. you can say that suss is more 'recognised' than sim ge cause of the government recognition but there are plenty of graduates from sim ge who manage to do quite well for themselves.

there's only so much we can tell you on a forum, i would really advise you to go check out their websites or just google to find out more from other students so that you'll have a better idea of both.
