Hey guys, Im looking to seek some information and i hope theres someone out there who can enlighten me I am interested to apply for Augusts '13 intake.


Firstly, Im thinking of applying to UOL B&F, and the highest qualification i have is a diploma in design and media (maj in advertising) from NAFA and my final GPA is at a measly 1.9
If there's anyone who can be honest with me, what are my chances of entering this course with my current diploma which is totally irrelevant to this course of study and furthermore my GPA for my diploma really sucks.



Secondly, I'm still currently serving in the army. I ORD first week of Sept. School starts in mid august, however the earliest they can let me know if i get accepted in or not is exactly 1 month before it starts which is mid july.

In order to disrupt my service, i am told that i have to apply for distruption at least 3 months in advance with a cofirmed placing in a uni, however i'll be only allowed to 1 month in advance and im afraid i might not able to distrupt.

Any bros out here faced this problem before of trying to distrupt 1 month in advance? It's like so last minute. And i wonder if there is anyway for SIM to let me know earlier if i managed to get a slot.

I hope any of you guys out there can give me some advice on this and im really considering trying to apply for this course and i'd rather know earlier if i should give up instead of wasting my time ):

I think private school cant disrupt. Most prob u should be able to enter as uol entry is quite relax. But dun think its easy. U better work hard if u are able to get in.

Yup, only local uni student can disrupt. I guess should not have any problem getting a slot in the course. After the course start you can only apply leave to attend the school or just simply miss the first few lessons.....

Hi, your situation is similar to mine. I ORD on the first week of septemeber as well. What i suggest is to apply for your desired course and contact SIM GE regarding your situation.
I have applied for UOL Econs and Finance and I have paste my conversation with an admission officer below.

- We refer to your application for the BSC Economics and Finance (BEFFT) Full Time programme awarded by University of London.

We have noted that you are currently serving your National Service and your National Service will end only on 8 Sept 2013. As spoken, we need you to submit a letter from your camp or your supervisor by 18 Mar 2013 stating that you will be allowed to attend the day classes of this programme as the UOL degree programme will commence on 12 Aug 2013.

Alternatively, you may wish to consider to be enrolled for the Sept classes which will commence on 16 Sep 2013.

Please keep us posted on your decision by 18 Mar 2013 so that we can process your application accordingly. Your application would be incomplete without the above informations. Any incomplete application would adversely affect the outcome of the application.

my gpa is the same as yours.

i applied to enf and they rejected me but offered me a place for diploma in economics which takes 1 year. after completing the diploma, i am able to skip to year 2 of the degree program, meaning i will take essentially 3 years to get the degree. same as taking the degree itself.

there are 3 options to choose for diploma in economics and based on the option you choose, you can choose to go to bnf, enf or anf and others in the 2nd year. the diploma exams are exactly the same as the year 1 degree program exam papers. i've heard that the passing rate in deg program is around 60% while passing rate in diploma program is 90%. bassically there are much tutorials in the diploma program.

oh, dont think you can disrupt as that only applies for local unis

As a clerk in my unit, i can confirm that you cannot disrupt for private unis =/

I've had friends who save up their leaves and earn off days by doing duty on public holidays so they can use them all during the one month that they have school. Yeah, they will miss one or two lessons but they do manage to be present for 3/4 of all the lessons. You firstly must have an understanding superior. For mine, she gave those who had school one day off for each public holiday and weekend duty that they did in that last month. So most of my friends just save up leave and earn off days to go school on weekdays. And usually for most courses at sim, you don't have school everyday. 3-4 days a week. If you're unlucky then it will be 5 days. So its definitely possible to go to school without disrupting. And also, wisdom tooth extraction is free and can give you 5-10 days of MC. So save up all your teeth as well!

For B&F students, choose Macro because it focuses on monetary economics which is valued added for B&F degree.
