SIM UOL vs Kaplan Murdoch

Hi, I've rx acceptance offers for

- Sim uol BSc(hons) management which I intend to change it to info sys & mgmt right before the course starts (3 yrs course) and also
- Kaplan murdoch BSc cyber forensics, info sys security & mgmt and business info sys (double maj). (1 yr 4 mths course)

My interest is in IT, especially info security & network. I did my research and asking ard but I'm still in a dilemma.

My main concern is that is it worth it to study 3 yrs in uol for an hons degree or is it better to chiong 1 yr 4 mths and gain work experience after that?

I can't really find much information abt uol's info sys so in terms of cert recognition, which deg will have a higher chance of landing a job in IT field?

Is it possible to enter local U or reputable uni with a murdoch's degree for masters?

Also, if i were to graduate from murdoch bsc cyber forensics ISM and BIS, I would be eligible to apply for australian comp society(ACS). How will this ACS help me in my career in the furture if any?

if you're plan to work in Singapore, ACS is no use.

I'm a Singapore Computer Society member for years, but it's rather pointless, pretty certain employers aren't looking for it.

Ic..thanks for ur reply. Btw becos i saw from the ACS web that they have some reciprocal agreement with SCS so i was wondering that if the degree is accredited by acs, will it be recognized in sg oso?? Also, can u give me some opinions abt the 2 courses?? Thankss

If you plan to embark on an I.T career, what you need are those I.T certs, of course a degree is a requirement for executive level job as well.

For post-graduate studies, I would recommend SIM-UOL due to honor grading. You need a 2nd upper to even be eligible to apply for local post-graduates. Not discounting Murdoch entirely, but it's safer to go through for the honor grading if you plan on further studies.

Having a degree is all about getting that interview. To develop your career further, employers are going to look at your professional Certs instead.

Ask yourself can you cope with the constant upgrading of skills? And professional cert is not cheap. Not to mention tedious as well. And at the end of the day, your job is probably outsourced to a foreigner who is cheaper.

So my advice to you is get a shorter course then back up your cvs with work experience and other qualifications to boost your chances

For Murdoch's degree, if you are getting double degree, i feel that there will be a better chances than single major degree. Together with other professional cert should be okay.

Depends on yourself. I have friends with murdoch deg who managed to secure job with Shell(PR) and MBS(Finance).
