SIMBA/TPG Senior Plan price lock in until 30 Nov 2024. It's clearly stated in the CIS.
So if you topup $100 and get additional $25, it'll be 25 months of service at $5/mth.
Just nice about 2 bill cycle before the price change if any.
Remember, the Senior Plan was supposed to increase from $5 to $10 in July 2021, but they extended by over 3 years, so we dk whether they'll extend again or not when time comes.
You raise a good point.
I note the CIS also has the clause right at the bottom that reads " SIMBA Telecom reserves the right to amend these SIMBA Seniors Go Digital Plan terms at any time by posting the amended terms within its website." Terms and conditions also defines '
"plan" or
"mobile plan" means your plan for each of the service(s), the terms and conditions of which may include a minimum term, monthly fees and call charges as amended from time to time. '
Guess it's a matter of risk assessment. To be fair, SIMBA has more sunk cost because of infrastructure, but as mentioned 2y earlier in this chat when TPG was split off because of the Vodaphone merger in Australia, they didn't want to include TPG Singapore in the acquisition/merger. Was thinking that this push for consumers to pump in credit is really to provide cashflow for operations and sustainability - and customers are bound for at least the amount of money they inject. $100(+25) means that, at current rates, customers are signalling they will stay until Oct 2024 provided it remains $5. Though I do think that raising the costs on seniors will attract some backlash, even a simple move like imposing GST on the subscriptions can cause the sunk credits to be difficult to clear.
My mom's not that old, but for those with older parents, I wonder what happens if the parent passes on during the period you have topped up for (assume 25 months with $100). SIMBA states no refunds in their policy, so do we assume that's the case in the event of death? They don't currently support line transfers, so even a simple act of transferring the line to a living relative may be problematic.
