What's your phone model and which part of japan?

Could be helpful if you can share more details.

I think someone mentioned need to turnon volte.

For my case I suspected was actually my samsung A7 only support 2 out of 6 bands that KDDI use. Swapped sim into xm note 10, support all 6 bands, no problems with reception at kyoto osaka kobe

Initially thought use my xm note 10 for only photo taking to save battery, use Samsung for navigation.

My mum redmi note 9T on senior plan, no problems with reception from airport to ulu shrine hill
Ya it’s clearly stated on their website for Japan you need a VoLTE supported device. I just came back from Osaka and it was perfectly fine

5mbps is more than enough for 1080p youtube. i just tested

even if you have 1gbps, youtube doesnt load the whole video, only a few seconds ahead to save bandwidth
those willing to pay more, let them. it's good they r contributing to the economy. else the other telcos will post lousy results and shareholders will jump ship, then sg economy will go into recession really fast. haha.

Mine is a mi10t pro, no issues with volte in SG. Do not understand why i could use at the airport and not again, went to Tokyo osaka Kyoto.

Bought a local sim for $30, kind of exp but no time to search around, went to yodobashi and bought 1.

I don't usually watch YouTube but this info vindicates that xhamster should be fine 😂

Don't rely on simba in japan.

Tried simba in japan in early March, connected at airport and used about 130MB.
Then unable to connect again. I topped up about 30 bucks for roaming usage but in the end unable to use for data.

Airplane mode on and off. Saw that I am connected to a local telco then disconnect me again, as in no reception no bar. So the days roaming only worked for 1 or 2 hours at airport then never again for the rest of my trip.

Check out their Facebook, got other people complain as well.

Bought a local sim in the end.

Msia no issue though.

I was in Japan 26th Mar to 7 April. Cover tokyo, shizuoka prefecture, kansai area.. couldn't use when I reach aiport so I Google and realise that my APN wasn't keyed correctly. Edit the APN and connected to KDDI immediately.

Nv once I lost connection throughout my trip. My friend use local sim but he will lose connection sometimes when it's too crowded.

And there is free idd call so i make some local phone for restaurant /onsen reservation. All was great for me.

Using s23 ultra.

So today just bought SIMBA to try out, selected eSIM since I'm too lazy to go to store to register/pickup, paid through the app with PayLah!, had to manually input info since Singpass would bug out the UI and not let me enter a postcode.

Got an email with a barcode, an invoice, headed to simba.sg/activate, entered my number that I picked and it says invalid number, can't scan barcode/manually enter barcode number, eventho I could login through that number to simba's user portal and see my eSIM is pending activation, anyone encountered/had similar issue to this so far?

IMHO.
Yesterday was a "sad" day for me.
Today was the confirmation of what happened.
After I upgraded my phone to OneUI 5.1, I lost my Simba 5G.

I am crying as I type this ..... 😭😭😭
Cannot be bruh. Update should cater for more compatibility. Unless Samsung meant One UI for 1G 😂.

Ya samsung update one kind. Last time my Samsung A7 got volte option for tpg sim card. After the last available update for that phone, no more volte.

I am suspecting maybe Simba switch off the 5G. 🤣
Anyway, the Simba 5G on that phone is not permanent. I am exploring other means to connect to 5G... hopefully more permanent.

My niece is Osaka now. Her Simba roaming works with KDDI.

They only problem she observed is the APN changed to KDDI APN automatically. She manually change it to TPG and everything works.
