Leaving it here for those that are looking to convert prepaid to postpaid as 3G shutting down after July.

SINGTEL SIM ONLY STARTER is strictly for prepaid to postpaid ST conversion/GOMO.
Resolved after visiting SIngtel shop and requested for the conversion.
No fees paid as of posting (08th April), and this is the only plan without contract as all other ST SIM ONLY plans have 12 month term.

Also, prepaid to postpaid can be done by Changi Mobile, SIMBA & Circles.Life as far as I have found out, for those looking for other options.

FYI...A friend now in Quilin, China. He said he's unable to get data roaming from SIMBA.

Anyone been there with the same issues & knows how to get data roaming from SIMBA?

Thanks

I have isolated to find that only SIngtel isn't able to view, and all other issues are fine so doesn't seem to be router DNS issues though..
It's not your router's DNS. It's the DNS server at Singtel / SIMBA. e.g. when you want to visit xiaomi.com, SIMBA server translate "xiaomi.com" into 123.234.123.234 which works, but Singtel might not know what "xiaomi.com" is so you cannot connect.

You can use a VPN to do it. Maybe cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 VPN. Free.

Had a great port in experience from Simba.
Registered a SIM card online, picked up physical SIM on Sat afternoon, port in done on Sat 11+pm.

Had to reboot phone before phone can get onto Simba network.

Try using another phone.

Simba is pretty unstable in this sense. My Simba didn't work on occasions. Need to have a backup data roaming sim card.

I live in China every other month.

Look like for OPPO phone if the mobile network connection is loss, the phone cannot auto reconnect back. Need to restart the phone.

Anyone using OPPO phone?

2 elderly friends have no mobile connection I believe since Friday. They didn’t know about it until I met them on Sat’s noon. Both using OPPO but of different models, and all in the list of supported VoLTE devices.

I taught them how to check if there is connection or not, and how to restart the phone. Actually this already not the first time, I have doubt if they are able to manage. If happen to me, I cannot be keep checking my phone whether got service or not all the time, right?

One of them already with SIMBA for over a year still using the same phone. Only like this year this problem happened I think at least 3 times. Maybe due to recent phone firmware update, maybe due to SIMBA network upgrade….

Already feedback to customer support previously, but all I get was those standard answers. CS even asked me to set the network selection to manual. But both friends like to go Malaysia, and they don’t know how to manual select network if overseas🤷‍♂️

I told them if like that, either they continue to pay $5, change phone (but I cannot be sure it will not happen again with other phone brands/models ?) , or switch out. 🤔

I read somewhere someone uses 2 SIMs and encountered this problem. But both friends only got a single SIMBA SIM in the phone.

Does SIMBA perform network maintenance? If during maintenance period the service is down, then i believe the OPPO phone would be unable to auto reconnect after the service is up again.

( I used to be with MyRepublic, they always have this regular network maintenance and I would be notified by SMS. )
