I think I will decide to stay put with Simba, using Poco M3 (its connection with Simba is seamless dunno why) as in-call and SMS, while the rest of my non-VoLTE 4G devices will be used as out-call via Call App and Whatsapp and video streaming and net surfing. At least, it will extend these devices' life span and not end up as e-waste. 😊

can't receive calls? there was a discussion about a month or two back on how to enable this when voice app is not the foreground app.

telcos prefer you to contribute to e-waste and buy new phone from them.

Am wondering whether MyRepublic Call App can replace VoLTE too... will look into it. 😞

do let us know. tks

Why am I able to make calls even after disabling WiFi & Mobile Data?

Thanks.

How does MyRepublic Talk App work?

Making calls from the MyRepublic Talk app – either in SG or overseas
If a mobile user uses the app to call a number, the server will check if the recipient is also MyRepublic Talk user and is connected to internet; it will connect to the recipient via MyRepublic Talk.
If the check is negative, the call would be routed and connected via the GSM network.

So if the recipient is not a Talk App user, will it route to data calling instead since GSM is defunct here now? No info on that. Meanwhile, only Simba Call App is the surest solution for non-VoLTE 4G devices if users do not want their devices to become eWaste.

Still don't get it.
My phone is not connected to anything, WiFi nor Mobile Data.
your phone is connected to the cellular 4G (VOLTE) network, so can receive calls

if you dont want to receive calls, can consider toggle airplane mode

thanks, i did check out the features on MR site, and came to similar questions. ie
- it appears to be more of a call forwarding service (as implied in the app setup instructions)
- reference to GSM network may be a generic synonym for cellular network, but to be confirmed.
- presumably it uses 4G/5G/wifi data network, but does it require a supported/whitelisted handphone too? no info...
- not enough info to determine yet to determine if it will be a viable alternative to the simba voice app. may need a subscription to hands on.

the main concern with trying a subscription is, their talk app only works on 4G plans. Reportedly it runs on m1 infra, and i'm not keen to go back there.

edit: noticed you started a new thread. tks

not sure this have been discussed before

if I in overseas, and only want to use the voice app to call Spore and receive calls from Spore, I need to disable volte? Meanwhile, I can still use 4G roaming data to surf net, whatsapp calls etc?

Not disable cellular, only disable volte.

Say I in Vietnam rural area where the signal network is very bad (only 3G). Will I still receive calls from Spore in Vietnam (VOLTE not available) from my phone or the call is received in the voice app?

For Android or iphone ?
For android that has worked for quite some time, for ios it is still not working for me.
Xiaomi 14. Just updated the OS. Suddenly can vowifi. Before the update, cannot.

My wife iphone 15 cannot.

Guess something to do with how the network recognises these phones.
