I doubt Simba can work as they claimed in Indonesia, is there any alternative?

I travelled to Jakarta in Dec 2024, I honestly cannot remember encountering any issue with data during my 3 day trip. I was using my phone normally and didn't encounter and dead spots. Just my personal experience, YMMV.

I guess as per usual. Outdoor or opened fields should be fine.

Most of the time the problem popped up while we were inside certain buildings which might not have that specific operators antenna / repeaters plus dead spots inside the buildings.

Even when using manual connectio, it will disconnect itself after a couple seconds from their appointed telco partner. It is getting unreliable and unable to roam despite having a 5 bar signal strength while facing directly at the cell tower.

I'd put it this way. Unless you know the roaming partner works for you, I won't rely on just one service provider if I need continuous connection, or at least for the majority of the duration.

Long before we'd MVNOs, I used my Malaysia (then) DiGi and Hotlink lines to roam in Batam, be it day-trip or overnight stays. I didn't (and still don't) like to rely on just one service provider. (Fortunately, both worked) Once I even bought a prepaid card online and brought there, ended up not (having to) activating the line and gave the card away.

In short, your service provider will only be as good as its roaming partner, if your primary use is for roaming.

In fine $unny $ingapore, I like the iPhone with both Simba and Eight lines best.

A pity that Simba CNY promo ended so early.
Could have captured/retained more subscribers.
Join the party longer next time, don't be anti-social.

Just look at Eight, so many ppl lock themselves willingly for close to 1yr!
If this goes on, SIMBA will lose even more customers.

Simba continues to attract customers from MNOs, with a Business Times report from several weeks ago showing that they have reached 1.1 million customers. In fact, Simba is attracting more customers than MNOs are losing.

For every 1 customer that Singtel lost, Simba gained 1.8 customers
For every 1 customer that M1 lost, Simba gained 1.6 customers, can't remember the number for starhub, but about there.

The only thing that simba lost out is to MVNO's. The larger pie for Simba to eat is still MNO's customers.

Eight's has backing from StarHub allows them for longer promotions. Simba, having experienced significant customer growth compared to last year, now needs to prioritise balancing profitability and cash flow. They also need to compete to auction 5G bandwaves

I think most are seniors. Cos Simba senior plan is too good. I believe quite a number of senior get 2 lines ($5x2) instead. I even had many relatives having 4 senior lines, maxed out per NRIC, one line for grab, one for phone, one for tablet.

So previously, these senior customers are used to paying $30 to $50 per month to Singtel / M1 / Starhub, now moving to Simba at $5, it becomes super cheap to what they have been paying previously. So they sign up more lines.

Maybe those whose who play pokemon go on multiple phones needs it :ROFLMAO:
