all esim companies like eskimo can close shop for singapore market
Uh...no. SIMBA's bundled roaming allotments don't include roughly 2/3rds of the world's countries/territories. And that even includes countries/territories that you can fly to nonstop from Singapore. Nonstop examples include the United Arab Emirates (SIMBA Group B), Qatar (Group B), Ethiopia (Group D), South Africa (Group B), Timor-Leste (no group), New Caledonia (Group D), Bhutan (Group D), Bahrain (Group D), Myanmar (data suspended), Oman (Group C), and the Maldives (Group C).

StarHub's 5G Unlimited+ series of plans include a small allotment (without rollover) for roaming in 165 countries/territories, but those plans are more expensive, starting at S$6 (Singaporean citizen seniors) and S$17.60 (PAssion Card discount).

So this is what it's about?

Scary figures coming up :s13:

Simba needs to improve their App UI. They went the opposite way of the others by using balance. Just like your photo 499 GB/500GB. Sometimes, when you see will panic. I'm left with 1GB of data left.

If they want to continue to use the balance left, they should put a bar to indicate the percentage left.

I feel the best is still using usage instead of balance

Ya, I thought I've used 499.44GB of my main data.

I have asked chatGPT to re-imagine the app UI better layout and more understandable usages. I asked them to use percentages and use usages instead of balance. Now integrated with roll-over data indication.

Does it look better?

Definitely better.

Do you think you can get Simba to pay you if they want to adopt this layout? Or lifetime free lines?

Maybe, but there are still several problems:
  • 4500 SMSes is not unlimited. Just remove the word Unlimited. (Why the regulator evidently allows this sort of advertising is a mystery.)
  • I'd probably organize the layout with enclosing "Data," "Voice Calls" and "SMS" boxes. Within the "Data" box there'd be "Main (SG plus 4 Countries)," "APAC (15 Countries)," and "Global (60+ Countries)," in that order.
  • For "Local Fixed Lines and IDD Minutes" just say "SG Fixed Lines and IDD."
  • You don't need 3 identical data icons.
  • All data allotments roll over. Do we really need that level of detail on that main summary screen? Rollover-related information probably should be one level deeper.
  • What does the color coding mean? Green usually means "good," and red (or in this case magenta, which is red-like) means "bad." Is that true?
  • I would use the word "Allotments" instead of "Entitlements." We're not entitled to much of anything.🤣
  • I would not specifically use the date format "05/05/2026" unless that's picked up from the phone's preferred date format. If the user prefers ISO format (2026-05-05) or full date format (May 5, 2026), as examples, that's what should be displayed.
That's a starting list.

Pay me no use, just get an enterprise ChatGPT premium Pro subscription. They can help themselves in coding, webUI and integration with their system. I only use ChatGPT (free) to envision what we customers want, this is just version one only. It can be even better.

I wonder why Simba is doing all these, increasing data, call minutes and SMS, now even roll-over. It is kinda like making the competition to a level that other telcos definitely cannot match, especially Eight Mobile which always try to follow suit.

Of cos in term of speed, it remains as the lowest rung, which is the edge of others. But it seems to be pointing that the approval of the taking over may not be hopeful, hence the desperate measure now.

They dun have much to lose. Not many will utilize all the data. Is more of a feel good factor, an insurance to end users. If I need it is there.

competition to be competitive ...they can give extras but not improve much on the network bandwidth speed at the moment
