Guess it depends on individual, if the offer is good and one is talking about half the price, why not? Especially if there is another round of merger talk soon, especially Starhub with M1, who knows when this honeymoon period will be over? 😅
Even if SH and M1 merge, Lion King will still want to attract more customers. At least until IMDA concludes their investigation.

We will never know, Simba could even offer itself for sale if it deems it will not make profits in the long run. But the strategy of getting more market share will not go wrong, be it as a player or as an exiter.

Simba is the 3rd biggest telco with postpaid subscribers, pushing m1 to 4th. But the other 2 are a bit tough to catch up..
Precisely a big turning point for its failed bought over of M1. SIMBA may even be 1 step ahead for merger talk before M1 if M1 is dilly dally to sell in order to increase its bargaining power. Once that happens, M1 will be stuck as 3 players are the minimun required.

If this scenario turns out, M1 still can be sold if MyRepublic Mobile has the financial capacity to buy it as MR always want to be an MNO, but guess the price may not be as high as Simba's offer for sure. But MR is likely no longer relevant given it no longer has the cash cow FBB sector to leverage on.

Not forget to mention, Simba may itself offer for sale if it deems that the fight is too uphill battle. Meanwhile, its strategy is to grap max mkt share to position as a strong player or prize for potential buyer.

More like they are making the fight uphill for everyone else.

With 1.4 million subscribers and an ARPU under 10 dollars, they are making close to 20 million net profit in half a year. Other Telcos are still operating at an ARPU of over 20 dollars. If they continue to grab market share, they may one day become too big for others to buy them over without triggering competition concerns.

Nevertheless, the mobile sector is sure a very interesting drama ground going forward. We shall see, meanwhile, enjoy honeymoon period while we can. 😊

Just to add context, 10 years ago Singtel Mobile ARPU was $73 - equal to $87 today due to inflation.

Circles life and other MVNOs drove ST APRU down to $40 in 2020.

Finally SIMBA drove ST ARPU down to $23 in 2025.
