Cuz TPG Telecom (Australia) merged with Vodafone in Australia back in mid-2020 and they didn't want TPG Telecom (Singapore) to be part of the deal. Hence, the Singapore company was sort of spun off and gave TPG Telecom (Singapore) 2 years of branding rights. That's why by end of July this year, everything was changed to SIMBA Telecom.

IMO, I think they were scared that SIMBA would fail/be unprofitable but right now we see SIMBA is stronger than ever. Growing from 133K subscribers (Sept 2020) to 622K subscribers (Sept 2022), about 4.6x growth in sub counts.
That's good news. I use TP..erm...SIMBA and it's working fine for me. Value for money, and wherever I went...and I am seldom X feet underground.... the data never got cut.

I don't know about some people who said they could not surf whatever site they were surfing when the mrt went under...I just wonder if that minute or two underground was enough to make them pay more, in fact much more, for other isp...for me, the answer is no.

I can live without a signal for a minute...but I heard that even that is now getting or has got better, and people ARE receiving signals at more underground places now.

I've just signed up for SIMBA and will be self collecting. How fast is the porting over? Will it be on the same day of collection?
I just ported over to Simba. Sign up online at 5 pm, self collect SIM card at about 6 plus. Previous SIM card was deactivated at 11 plus and new SIMBA activated at about 2 plus morning.

Yup haha. It's really just a minute or two when you're underground or in MRT (MRT works fine unless its peak hour tbh). Just can't wait for my mainline's contract to end so I can switch over since I heard they're coming out with 5G next year.

Also, I saw their financial report that they have incorporated two more companies, "Netco West Pte Ltd" & "Netco East Pte Ltd". Sounds like Netlink (which is a ISP company i think), maybe SIMBA could be the entering the ISP market? Who knows haha.

Not going to use for overseas cos this is for my 97 yo grandfather

I have enquired about the credit balance in the account balance. Should there be any balance left in the A/c Balance, they will allow you to use any excess of your plan quota. For example, call overseas or use excess data. They will then charge and deduct from the account balance.

If you have no credit balance in your account balance, thing will be otherwise. You are not allow to use any excess of quota that your plan is entitled. The function will not be available to you, except your data is flowing but very low.

As such, I would suggest to you to use a Credit Card for your monthly subscription. So as to avoid any mistaken handling.

I dun know how it works leh. i saw shopee same price as topping up directly to simba. can explain why cheaper?
I think these retailers may get a discount (eg, they get charged $8 for every $10 topup - idk what the actual amount is). In effect, they're just choosing to earn less to draw customers in to use their service. ;)

I have the my130 plan. Put inside my lte router. Reception and speed is good in Malaysia and automatic connect to my celcom.

so far so good. $10 monthly but overall worth it as all my family members can connect to the router and use internet.
