Does anyone encounter the issue of unable to receive SMS OTP from banks. I wanted add DBS credit card in shopee, however the SMS OTP cannot be received no matter how many times I tried.

Understand that simba is using VoLTE to make calls. Does it mean that I won't be able to make/receive calls without data?

yes they do not utilise 3g like the 3 telcos so data is needed ... even if you use simba voice app data is needed. Most phone does support VOLTE unless your phone is really old

if you just ported in, there is a change this will happen. Wait for a week and everything will go back normal. If cannot wait, resend OTP multiple times, then can receive

if you disable mobile data on you phone.. You will still be able to make calls. voLte no need data..

currently on M1 data passport but the network quite cui leh

It uses the 4g network to make calls. It does not use data.

I am using iPhone and I forwarded (forward when unreachable) my Singtel line to SIMBA, then turn the Singtel line OFF. People can reach me normally as I turn off my Singtel line when I reached woodlands and all calls will be directed to my SIMBA.

This is a rather good idea for those not running their SIMBA as main..

But for call forwarding, I am aware it will eat into your outgoing call airtime, but it wont be under roaming right? Just local call airtime.. ?

I bought SIMBA card $25 last week plus top-up $15, before I went overseas.
It has been active at least 48 hours, confirmed by checking the status via SMS "simba" to 1218 that my card is roaming ready, got message "Congratulations! Your SIM is ready for roaming. Please visit www.simba.sg/roaming for full roaming details."
Arrived in Turkey, NO SIGNAL at all. Turkey is part of Group C, which I read somewhere that it is not free roaming, and that it cost $15/GB. That's why I top-up $15 before I left SG. No luck.
Arrived in Bulgaria, NO SIGNAL at all. Bulgaria is part of Group A, which is supposed to be free roaming (part of the $25 package). No luck.
I already checked the APN was TPG. Already roaming enabled. Already turn on/off plane mode. Already restarted the phone. No luck.
It felt like a scam.

Even my Singtel hiCard at least got registered to the local network for both countries, even though I couldn't use it for internet because I didn't buy any roaming package for it (prepaid hiCard doesn't have roaming package to Europe, postpaid has).

Update: I can use the same Simba card for roaming in Indonesia.

IMHO.
Go for the cheaper of the 3 - SuperRoam 50GB since JB only.

How long do you stay in JB weekly? If you are using the maps and whatsapp only. The normal $10/mth with 1GB free roaming is good enough

Nope. One trick, u use an android phone, insert your sim card example from Singtel and do the call forward when unreachable to your SIMBA line. This means when you are out of Singtel network or u turn off the line or turn off the phone, all calls will be route to SIMBA. It will base on the last active location which is in SG.

So, before you head oversea for example before u head into JB, please turn off your singtel line and it will be normal call forwarding and not roaming call.

Yes, it will eat into our local outgoing airtime but for me it's fine. I had unlimited outgoing calls.

Let's say I have 1GB roaming data. So, if I use SIMBA Voice app to call and receive call while in overseas. Does such SIMBA Voice calls eat into my 1GB Roaming data?

One simple answer for Mr Porter, NO NO NO.. VoLTE is VoLTE, not eating into your data.
My friend only 1gb, he finish within half a day but I can still call him and he can still call out when in JB.

Yeap airtime now almost every telco giving ample so never worry about it... Just worried if it would be treated as an roaming outgoing call only, especially for other Telcos, say M1?

Because years back, when there's not much voip / free volte choices for receiving calls whilst overseas, I actually did try explore such a route, but somehow if I remembered correctly, it might be treated as an roaming outgoing call airtime deduction once forwarded..

Anyways, for iPhone also can use it's native call forwarding feature right? Need not be only android mobile..

I shall try soon when I have the chance with M1 diverting to Simba..

I can safely say it will be the same for M1. If u turn off your M1 line in SG, your M1 totally no connection to the network, how will it even know you are in overseas?

U do the call forwarding to a local SIMBA number, so ONLY local outgoing will incurred since u do the call forward when M1 out of service.

iPhone does not have the option to forward when out of service. It will only do ALL CALL FORWARD.
3 ways or 3 options for you.

1st - iPhone, you do a ALL call forward to SIMBA before u head overseas and turn off your M1 line. Once you are back in SG, u need to cancel the Call forward.

2nd - You find an Android phone, select Call forward when unreachable. This option means your calls will be forwarded when you are out of M1 reception or when you turn off your line/phone. Once you turn back ON your line or your phone and have reception, your calls will NOT be forwarded anymore. This forwarding can just keep it there since it does help when u did not realized that your M1 line no reception at certain places.

3rd - Last option, if u do not have any android phone or u are using esim for M1. U need to google for those call forwarding USSD code, example *71 91234567.. This way is similar to using an Android phone to do call forwarding when unreachable. The code above is just an example, please google for the actual code which I do not know off hand now. Good to share here once u found out.
