At this point I think express transit won't work for us, looks like it's only for transit cards with prepaid values.

I guess being able to do away with the stupid ezlink card is good enough for now.

what a sad news. hopefully soon, within a month or so will be best.

I think we're a bit off tangent at the moment, unless we're able to have ezlink card with topup feature in apple pay wallet itself I dont see that happening.

But now they're pushing for credit cards which is not secure if we can tap it without user authentication.

Unsecured as in unauthorised retail purchase?

For Samsung pay, it doesnt work if being tapped onto a retail merchant without authentication. For iPhone, likely to follow similar security precaution. So u bound to have time to make necessary actions as per dropped credit card situation.

u have to set the card as express transit card first. but i don't think singapore cards are allowed now.

SAFRA DBS card is now my express transit card though. And that’s definitely issued in Singapore.

Perhaps support is coming?

Not an expert but if it was like you said, Apple would've implemented it already. There must be some underlying security/technical issue with the implementation.

Anybody can set, whether the terminal will recognise is a different thing lol. I’ve tried my SCB card this morning, will try on my POSB debit card later.

Only can hope our gantries are sophisticated enough to be able to use express transit... because we know MRT will not do an overhaul and Apple will never give in.

Does Express transit mode is only meant for Transit cart like ezlink or Suica? Not mean for credit card?

Some people have discovered settings (previously disabled) in iOS 12.3 that might allow credit cards to be used like the Express Transit-ready stored value cards, without authentication, at specially earmarked terminals for small-value transit transactions.
