I started off using gpay nfc linked to my bank card for public transport without even registering in simplygo.

After a few months, i had issues getting gantry to detect my gpay nfc but i could pay for other stuff just fine. So i downloaded the simplygo app, registered the same bank card and it has been working ever since.
I had already registered my cards in SimplyGo app but still unable to detect. I tried changing to a different card too.

What phone are you using ?
I have read in this forum that some phones ( e.g. OnePlus 7T ) have intermittent issues with NFC payment.

I am using Xperia 5 II.
I saw people having issue with it on Poco F2 and F3 thread too

I had the same issue with my Poco F2 Pro when i updated to Miui Global 12.2.5. It was working fine before for SimplyGo.

What happened was, on first tap, got the red screen on the card reader on bus telling me to use another card. But, shortly before the bus reach the next station, i tried tapping in again, and it works. But, it wouldn't work for me when tapping out. And, that's the only time it worked.

I'm now using the same card on my Mi 10 Ultra and there's no issue so far.

no issue with oppo find x2 pro.. except a couple of times I had tapped out (successfully) using gPay but in simplyGo they say 'Missing Exit'. so had to submit claims... bummer.

thankfully the claims are processed quite quickly (2 days) but have to wait like 4, 5 days before the transaction is posted on the credit card account.

Did u disable any Google apps? Your situation sounds like mine. At first Google pay was working fine on both public transport and visa paywave before I got itchy fingers and disable Gmail and delete simply go.

I found that reenabling all Google apps and reinstalling simply go (register your Google pay in it as well) fixed the Google pay issues on public transport.

I'm not referring to the SimplyGo tracking app. But rather the whole system of allowing tapping in and out mrt/bus using credit card in mobile wallet which is branded under SimplyGo.

https://simplygo.transitlink.com.sg/

So basically I can't tap in/out using Google pay. Anyone encounter the same?
I encountered this issue since last week, unable to scan anymore. It was working the week before. I did not change anything.

Payment over the counter is still working very well, so it may be something to do with their system.

i had also faced this issue after some updates last week. Using NFC was smooth and fast on bus / mrt before that.
Finally managed to find a work around.

At the bus/mrt reader, tap your phone as you would normally would.
Google Pay will start to read and may not register immediately i.e. messages like "phone move too fast", "hold your phone closer", "card may not be used" etc may appear
Instead of shifting / hover your phone over the reader to find the "right spot" , lightly tap your phone again and Google Pay will register.
Like how you would tap your finger when your hand is on the desk.
This has worked for me so far for past 3 days.

It is still slower and not as seamless when compared to previous experience, but at least i won't be holding up the people behind me now.
Of course, best is to keep your ezlink card in a handy place to reach out fast when G Pay still fails.

I also have the same problem recently. tapping on bus/mrt doesn't work anymore. But NFC payment still work. Not sure why. Didn't change anything.

Now have to go back to the good old ways of using my card.

I'm not sure but my personal experience has improved recently.

like previously I had to unlock the phone before it can work but now I just need to wake the phone (no need unlock) and it will work already. btw my phone is oppo find x2 pro. maybe it's already possible but I was impatient and unlock every time before that.

have not encountered missing exit for 2, 3 weeks... *fingers crossed*

Just changed phones.
Previously was using Samsung pay and was able to tap without unlocking my phone.
Now I tried using gpay and have to unlock first before it works on the ez link terminal. Is this normal? Only Samsung pay supports ez link payment without unlocking first?

Yes. You can set Google pay to transact without unlocking but you'll at least have to wake the screen.

However, I prefer to set it behind unlocking as it's more secure. Samsung Pay can restrict it to public transport transactions while the screen off, whereas Google Pay just uses the standard contactless payment means. Theoretically, anyone with a transaction reader can easily charge contactless payments to your phone by coming near to it, so Google Pay helps this by at least requiring the phone "awake".

It's definitely easier than the iPhone's FaceID based unlock with a mask on if you're using an older iPhone. We still see people frantically unlocking their phone by keying in their PIN and holding up the bus and others alighting because they forgot to unlock their iPhones ahead of time.
