Anyone tried upgrading their EZlink card at the machine to SimplyGo?

I tried but it said unable to. Dunno if its because mine is PAssion EZlink card. I never enable EZreload. Very odd.

"With the new system, card balance and trip fares will not be displayed on bus readers and MRT fare gates. This is because transactions are carried out through the backend and a longer time is required to retrieve data and reflect the transactions on the fare gates and bus readers, said LTA."

IMHO, the above "feature" is one-step backwards.....

The way I read it, EZ Link is forced to do it by LTA who wants to consolidate fare payment and auto-top up under Simply Go, with account users having the choice of payment methods. That's probably the "upgrade". Meanwhile, EZ Link is slowly being relegated to a e-wallet company.

Looks like only plain vanilla ezlink can upgrade. Those special type ezlink that is combined with PAssion or what looks like cannot.
