This Savings Bond was allotted using the Quantity Ceiling format. Applicants who applied for S$42,000 or lower were fully allotted, subject to the individual allotment limits.
Applicants who applied for S$42,500 or higher were allotted either S$42,000 or S$42,500.
Approximately 72.31% of these applicants were selected at random and allotted the additional S$500.

$42k allotted for Sep! not many people bothered with 10 year 2.75%, first few years 2.6%
Still oversubscribed by a bit, so while the N of people who applied was lower, the total amount applied for wasn't.

For simplicity's sake if we took 10K as the allotment that has been made over the past few months, the difference in the interest earned between the OCT2022 and earlier issues is peanuts over the 10-year period. In fact for the much-hyped AUG2022 issue where only a 9K allotment was finally made, the OCT2022 issue yields a mere 234 fewer dollars over a 10-year period.

The possibility of assured 2.6% for 3 years not locked into an FD wasn't bad at all.

Wah, I didn’t go that high. Some big guns must be entering to max up 200k?

Last round applied 20k got only 13k. This month applied 15k who know allotment is up to 42k! Perhaps people are skipping SSB and applying for T-bills. Well that's good too because those who want bigger SSB allotment can get bigger allotment. Next month SSB should be around 3.1% and hopefully the allotment can be as high as this month's.

For ppl who save up to apply for next month SSB just be prepared don't think can get as high as 42K for next month unless there is a sudden increase in the total size from millions to billions like T-bill.

Finally can realized my 200k very soon. 10 years SsB not attractive. So many didn't take up this month or running cash dry?

Reason being a lot of ppl want to be tied short term like 6 month T-bill and then decide again 6 months later as they believe this rate will keep increasing based on current trend. For me I take both T-bill and SSB as they are different. SSB is 10 years. Can the T-bill rates keep rising for 10 years non-stop? Not logical so it would be wise to put a bit on SSB and lock in for 10 years (if want to redeem also easy)

For me, 6 mths emergency cash park in SSB. Then savings meant for bonds and stocks will park in T-bills for now, since market still downward trending.

if I hold SSB 180,000. could I redeem 10,000 and apply 30000 in the same month? due to cap of 200,000. Thanks a lot.

t-bills rate will eventually fall as the economy goes into recession... at least I locked in 2.75% for 10 years (and can still redeem with no penalty if CPF rates go up in the near future).

anything that beats CPF rate is good enough for me lol.
