Pai seh newbie question.

For the upcoming issue (SBNOV22 GX22110A), assuming if one submit application today for $X amt, will $X be deducted instantly from the bank acct, or will be only be deducted on closing date 26 Oct or allotment date 27 Oct? Assuming if a lesser amount $Y is allocated, will the difference of $X-$Y be refunded back to bank acct on allotment date or issuance date 01 Nov or thereafter? TQ!

Thank you Sir! Which means a more appropriate approach is to wait till closing date to submit before 9pm that day so that fund can still get some interest elsewhere in some temporary holding account from now till then.

With SSBs you always receive all accrued interest whichever month you redeem them. For example if you redeem that SSB this month (October, for disbursement on or about November 1) you’ll also receive the accrued interest through and including October.

Refer to an e.g how the count the accrued interest https://www.mas.gov.sg/bonds-and-bills/investing-in-singapore-savings-bonds/how-to-redeem

That formula take into account the days to reach the interest paid out. For your case don't think you get the full 6 months since part of it will be inside the total redemption proceeds. I assume you redeem in full not partial

This is indeed the purpose of interest rate spike ---- more people bo bankrupts then less people buy buy buy boost up the prices
but it doesnt factor in rich PRs and the ultra weathly that the pap is hooking in left right and center ....

these ppl probably dun care or are not affected by the rising interest rate anyway.

How much do you all predict to get this month?

How much are you all setting for 6months and 1 year tbills?

How long do you think the interest rate will remain high?

Those rich ppl are very small portion of whole population, their needs can be met easily and not affecting the ordinary price level. To luxury items, they are the infulencer and dominant factor maybe. But for ordinary items, they are negligible.

Rich folks don't really care about SSBs. Too many hoops to jump through for avg 10k allocation a month and total 200k. TBills maybe, but SSB not really.
