Wah u into martial arts
I have no idea what is xing yi. How is it like?

xing yi, ba gua and taiji forms the 3 main schools of the internal arts of chinese martial arts

External arts usually trains explosive power from muscles and strength, and internal arts will train qi and our moves will incorporate qi as part of our explosive power.
I used to focus more on xing yi quan with my last teacher, though he is well versed in external arts from hunggar(his lineage of hunggar is under 林世荣, one of the student of 黄飞鸿), shaolin, and also practiced some bu gua and taiji forms as well.

younger days some on sports, ankle etc,
getting older will have gym injuries, when pushing over the limit
then i also do punching bag, over the limit also injury
saw some people when i went for physio after surgery, the girl whole leg bandage seem like ACL operation also smiling
spoke to one younger guy when we was waiting for our op, when benching his seat gave way and the barbell crash into his face, his jaw broke and require surgery probably will affect his breathing even after recovery, added him on IG, after surgery still pushing on breaking PRs :s13: strong guy
in the end we only human just train in discretion, unless bo bian

No, I learned xing yi, basic ba gua from my last teacher.
And martial arts sparing from 周家拳 from my first teacher and 2nd teacher.

Was too lazy and certain things happened that made me leave my teacher and the group of friends I was training together with.
But occasionally I will just slip some moves into my everyday movements just so that I will not completely forget everything and still can have some bit of skills that even if I cannot win the other person, I can at least won't be knocked down without some fight

But the agility and alertness really deteriorate a lot after I hit 30s

Why dont learn 隔山大牛?

I used to play football and saw some terrible injuries. A friend and cousin broke their leg. Another one broke his arm. Then three friends suffered torn acl. For myself, dislocated finger and hairline crack metatarsal. All for a weekend leisure kickabout
