Why are we so anal about a 2.5% account that is capped at $10k?

If you are going to put 100 million earning 2.5million a year ok la. But $250 and so much time digging and digging, worth it or not....

I don't get it man.

In fact the extra interest is not more than $180 per annum or less, the 10k in other banks will also be earning interest.

It's $250. Last i checked, McD still pays $5/hr. $250 would be 50hrs of hard labor for a McD worker. Many entry lvl jobs without a local uni degree pays around $2k/mth, for 40 to 44hrs work week, or about 8.4hrs workday. That's about 185 hrs for $2k, which works out to about $10.81/hr. $250 would be 23.12hrs of hard work for them. The median salary for singaporeans in 2019 was $4,563/mth. 185hrs for $4,563 is $24.66/hr. So $250 is about 10.13hrs of hard work for the average Singaporean. And i haven't even factored in the insane OT culture in Singapore.

So yeah, not everyone is so high SES like you haha.

actually both are on the same bus going to the same place la. its just one seated in front, the other seated 'behind'. :D

if we continue the same calculation, $250 a year is actually just less than 3 cents an hour. so i like to believe @socrates is not belittling the sum but rather is suggesting time is better spent focusing on things that can make more than 3 cents an hour like working at mcdonalds.

the only one thing i cannot understand is how is looking at the smaller things in life considered 'anal'. sorry me vocab quite limited hor.:o

You don't have to work for a whole year to get the $250 though. I think for the average Singaporean, investing up to 10hrs "digging and digging" is going to be worth it. I hope nobody here has actually surpassed that yet.

If your money currently getting >2.5% then you transfer tomorrow, otherwise transfer today, Singlife account doesn't follow calendar month, they credit interest monthly on the same date each month when your account was opened.

The option is only available to withdraw when your account is first funded with $500.
