I googled after all the failures. Portrait works , landscape doesnt. Funny thing is when my face was 1st captured it was in landscape

Most probably your face part in the image was cropped and resized. Whether it was captured in portrait or landscape initially doesn't matter much.

No leh. Initially my tablet placed on a stand in landscape mode cannot pass with > 10 tries. Then tried portrait mode after googling, passed after 2nd try
