I hope I post this in the correct section.
Recently renew mobile contract with Singtel. Bcos there is a credit to me in my old contract, request Singtel to refund me that amount. However Singtel claimed that I owe them $11+ and need to pay them first or they would not refund me the $15.19 Singtel owed me.
Problem is Singtel claimed that the bill was about a decade ago when I terminate my land line, I did not pay my bill. Of course I denied it as I normally paid all my bills.
Ridiculous! If I missed my payment, they will send reminder n later letter of demand or pay penalty! When I claimed that it is not possible , their CSO claimed is reflected in their system! If their system reflected that I owed them $100k , that mean I got to pay up? After all this years..how am I to proof that I paid?
When I asked the CSO why now then they demand when I have a mobile account with them for almost 7 years n nothing mentioned? The CSO even ask whether I shift house! Stupid, I had stay in same for 20 yrs!
This happened when I question them about abnormality in their bills and they have to change n resend their bills!
So how can I trust their system at all?
And damn if anyone can remember phone bills that happen donkey years ago? Am I guilty till proven innocent? Isn'tt there is a law to state that one cannot demand proof of payment after so many years..
Though only a very small amount, but it's ridiculous that they expect me to proof I did paid, rite?
Maybe they think being big corporate n I wouldn't dare go against their claim as it might cost even more for me.
Any advice please....

U have to post this on their Facebook page, make this public and get support for ur claim. Once this is public, they'll force to investigate and give u a fair outcome.

The reason they can do this to u is because they are big and u are small. Once this is make public, things will change. Public support and CASE will be able to fight for u.

How can be an identity theft and the thief ran away with a few dollars.

Now I'm starting to doubt all of his stories.

You meant my issues with Singtel n SCB? That all these are lies?
I dun post stories n people must have encountered these before that why I post here n glad that people like Chuanz gave me an important LINK .
Could you post your email n will email to you SCB letter stating the facts as I do not want to publish here as the matter is closed.
Thank you.

Is it possible that you are a victim of ID theft? This thread and the SCB thread.

You might want to check with Singtel, what is the name and address under that decade ago landline.

Good luck.

No, as Singtel mentioned my Land line number n all particulars verified.
In fact one forumer email me saying that last time he have to pay the subscription 3 months in advance so in fact Singtel should refund back instead of the other around! I check with my friends n some remembered that they had to pay quarterly in advance.
Had contacted Singtel n informed the CSO about the Statute of Limitation and also the 3 months advance payment. The CSO seem dunno about the 3 months thingy..n in fact she personally felt that its not fair that I was sprung with a bill so long ago n will bring my lastest feedback to her manager n hope to stop this month long issue. The officers are polite but all said its their system n have to abide by it...
thks..

This happened to me last week.. I am closing all UOB CC and when I checked their CS told me that their records show I owed them 10c+ for UOB Gold that already terminated years back and UOB SingTel $3+ also already closed many years back.. These cards never showed up on internet banking... I did recall I had those cards long ago.. Not wanting to drag further for token amounts, just paid up and proceed to close.. Apparently bank telco system can still keep our terminated cards/subscriptions long after they have been terminated.. So strange..

The "loss" is so small. Just settle and move on.

If it is in the order of tens of thousands of damages then post your stories here.

But you must be a very lucky person to experience 2 minor or trivial situations.

Why settle something that you are sure that it's not yours?

To you is minor but to them is big money. My colleagues just discover that Singtel owes her $9+ for almost 2 years when I highlight my case n chk that her bill was -$9.80 till last month when she change to a new contract but were not transfer to the new account number.
Now how many people like us were misled into believing we owed Singtel or Singtel owes the customer but did not refund them n keep it till they request n if forgot after yrs, who benefit?
It's not the amount but the principle behind it. If dun challenge them, they will even get bolder. I m sure I m not the only one.
Anyway like what clayghost said, why should I paid them just bcos they said so.
If not mistaken, there is news about a staff who skimmed off a few cents of employee or customer account n ended siphoning off thousands of dollar.
N a young kids asking for 1 cents n ended up having US50,000 dollars.
1 cent very small n minor what, rite?

"(4) An action to recover any penalty or forfeiture or sum by way of penalty or forfeiture recoverable by virtue of any Act or other written law shall not be brought after the expiration of one year from the date on which the cause of action accrued."
