But indeed it can be confusing.

SingTel uses different terms among their own websites.

1. hi! by SingTel website
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/mobile/hi

For hi! by Singtel Terms and Conditions, view details.

For hi! Plan (Prepaid) and Tourist SIM Terms and Conditions, view details.

I don't have the data point, first time using supported roaming partner.

As for tourist data SIMs, I don't remember having connecting/updating occurrences.

Shall monitor for my Japan trip in October.

Update on my Japan trip using Singtel hi! postpaid.

Previously in Bangkok experienced many connecting/updating status on Telegram, didn't had the similar incident while in Osaka.

Singtel redirecte quite some previous links to Singtel hi! Prepaid to the new "hi! by Singtel" postpaid plans now. Even some existing Singtel hi! Prepaid pages may have mixed with both.

Example: the following page used to be only for Singtel hi! Prepaid, now it has mixed contents.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/mobile/prepaid-plans

At the top -- they are promoting the S$15 "hi! by Singtel" S$15/30days plan.
When you click "Need a SIM Card?", it used to point to the S$8 and S$15 Prepaid SIM Card, now it points to "hi! by Singtel" website.
When you click "500GB 5G+ $15 SIM, learn more", it used to point to the S$15 Prepaid SIM Card, now it points to "hi! by Singtel" website.

It seems to me that "hi! by Singtel" will cover both prepaid and postpaid down the road.

1) And both Singtel hi! Prepaid App and Singtel hi! app got the "hi! by Singtel" branding.

Google Play Store apps.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.singtel.hiaccount
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.singtel.hi

Apple App Store apps
https://apps.apple.com/sg/app/singtel-prepaid-hi-app/id1034712778
https://apps.apple.com/sg/app/singtel-hi/id6753194323

2) The hotline and WhatsApp channel are now combined for both Singtel hi! Prepaid and Postpaid plans.

3) I am not so sure if Singtel hi! Prepaid counter in Singtel physical store now handle postpaid customers or not (previously not as I asked last time), that may be a real difference.

Yesterday after work I still saw 10+ customers queueing at the Prepaid counter of Singtel Shop Juring Point.

1. But then they are still different as they are different in terms of IMDA classifications -- Prepaid vs Postpaid. And there is no way to convert Postpaid to Prepaid. Prepaid to Postpaid is one way street.

2. Different terms and conditions.

At the bottom of "hi! by Singtel" websites, they mention the terms and conditions of the two.
For hi! by Singtel Terms and Conditions, view details.
For hi! Plan (Prepaid) and Tourist SIM Terms and Conditions, view details.

3. Different FAQ
1) hi! Plan FAQ and Critical Information Summary

good thing for Gomo and Hi is that they do not have 3G. Means they can actually offer free roaming voice over volte.

heard it's in the works, coming soon 1H 2027. ;)
They do have 3G, and 2G for that matter.

Just that 3G and 2G have been shut down in many countries, including Singapore

My GOMO managed to hook onto BSNL 3G while in India in early 2026, though I did not make or receive any calls, I was able to receive SMSs.

sorry i think i wasn't clear before. GOMO and Hi does not have circuit switch architecture and only have packet switch architecture.

you can connect to 3G with packet switching but that 3G is not able to make a voice call (circuit switch). VoLTE is on packet switching only.

you can try latching on to the network and disable your data roaming, you won't receive any sms

Good insight and this can probably explain why eight, SIMBA and Maxx can offer free VoLTE roaming voice calls (but no outgoing roaming SMS).

This can also explain new Starhub Prepaid plan offer 100 minutes of free roaming voice calls as it is a totally new plan without the legacy baggages. Interestingly they also offer 25 or 50 free outgoing roaming SMS.

On the other hand, Starhub new 5G Unlimited+ and 5G Platinum plans are able to offer unlimited free roaming voice calls and SMS.
https://consumer.starhub.com/personal/store/mobile-plans

You can see that Singtel and M1 MNO plans can also follow Starhub to throw away the legacy baggages to offer new plans with free VoLTE roaming voice calls if they really want to. Then Singtel MVNOs like Zym/Zero1/VIVIFI/CMLink and CL can follow as well.

But we know that Singtel can be slow in this aspect. Let's see.
