singtel just reply me: We do not support/have ipv6 native

openwrt online courses are so confusing: different courses have different methods to setup ipv6

I tend to think that is just an easy answer from Singtel side -- Singtel does have native IPv6 for some areas.

But indeed Singtel native IPv6 is not fully deployed so your area may indeed does not have native IPv6 yet.

As for OpenWRT, it may take some time to get familiar with.

If you want to get deeper into OpenWRT or pfSense, I will recommend to get a mini PC using low power Intel CPU. pfSense may be more powerful and quite a bit easier to use with better GUI. I prefer OpenWRT as it consumes less resource and supports command CLI a bit better.

It's likely that the support agents aren't aware of the ongoing native deployment, so they just say it's not supported and close the ticket without escalating to anyone who might be aware.

If there was no native support in the area then you'd get nothing - no address assignments, so there's something there. It may be broken at their end, or it may be a problem with your router.

I'd suggest sticking with the official openwrt docs: https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/ipv6/configuration
See the sections "Native IPv6 connection" and optionally "Downstream configuration for LAN interfaces".

Third party tutorials online can often be out of date, or relate to a specific configuration that might not be applicable to you.

Are you upgrading to 2Gbps plan or 3Gbps plan or 5Gbps plan? If yes, then indeed they will change your ONT to ONR since ONT cannot support 2Gbps/3Gbps/5Gbps/10Gbps plans. This has nothing to do with IPv6 in reality.

If you are still using 1Gbps plan, I do not see how changing to ONR will sort out your IPv6 issue, unless they have done somthing on the SIngtel backend. But judging from your previous replies, it seems to me you have not reached to the right person yet. So I am not so sure they have done their job yet...

When I was using ONT with my own router last time (Singtel 1Gbps plan), I had no issues to configure 6rd IPv6 and later Singtel native IPv6 by myself (using either Asus router or OpenWRT router, and actually some other routers like pfSense and OPNsense). Only when I upgraded to 5Gbps plan and changed to ZTE F8648P XGS-PON ONR I needed to contact Singtel to enable native IPv6 from the backend.

Anyway, hope you get the issue sorted out soon.

Last time after I applied for 2Gbps plan at $29.90, I never receive any response from singtel. i think they reject my application already.

Tomorrow singtel technician come to change ONT to ONR is to fix ipv6 problem, i wish they can fix it properly.

Singtel's reply via whatspp: I'll monitor your case tmr. Once the technician change to ONR, we will see if able to detect your ONR, if yes, then I'll push down the IPv6 DS setting again

There are no data now.

Basically Singtel has not assigned the right person to help you -- it seems native IPv6 is a topic where very few Singtel support staff (front-end and backend) know about.

Do not look at the 6rd connection status if they have provisioned the native Singtel IPv6 with your ONR. 6rd is irrelevant in this case. You should actually delete all 6rd related settings in the ONR if you have done that. You need to look at the WAN connection status of the ONR.

Reference with my ZTE F8648P XGS-PON ONR. I tend to think ZTE ZXHN F620 GPON ONR will be similar. If not, please post the screenshot.

You may want to read the following thread about the difficult expereinces of how Singtel ONR users can get native Singtel IPv6. It is for sure not a smooth experience. I was lucky to get a nice front end staff and an experienced field support guy. It still took me 19 days to get it sorted out (15 August 2024 ticket created, 3 September 2024 issue resolved).

I believe that is the problem.

It is good that the ONR gets the valid GUA. But DNS and IPv6 gateway cannot be empty.

You can pass the message to Singtel support person.

Maybe you can ask him to read this thread and the other thread as well so he understands that this may be an advanced topic he needs help from more experienced colleagues.

the latest update:
1. singtel change ZTE ONR to huawei ONR, but two tp-link APs don't work properly with it: AP can obtain dhcp ipv4 address from ONT, but client pc can't obtain it.

2. singtel change back to ZTE ONR and reset it, then set 6RD ipv6 settings as below:
Connection Name
MTU 1380
WAN Connection Auto
6RD Configuration Static
6RD Prefix 2400:d803::/32
6RD Border Relay Address 202.166.127.6
IPv4 Mask Length 10

Now 6RD ipv6 is working fine.

3. Native ipv6 still doesn't work, ipv6 gateway is empty:
LLAfe80::863c:99ff:fec5:xxe5
GUA2400:d802:3210:xxe7::81
DNS2400:d800::1/2400:d800::2/::
IPv6 Gateway::
IPv6 Connection Status Connected

The IPv4 mask length of 10 seems to be new.

My pfSense router has not been able to obtain a fresh ipv6 address since last Friday after a routine monthly reboot, ipv6 gateway claims 100% packet loss.
