Hi. I would like to warn everyone against signing up for the Singtel Multi-Line discount. You may think that you are getting a discount, but in fact there are many conditions tied to it. They offer a yearly handset upgrade, but you need to upgrade to a similar or higher plan. Then they change their plans every year, so that you will not be able to find the same plan after a year. Since you cannot go down on the plan and cannot stay on the same plan (which has been discontinued), they force you to upgrade your plan. I had to upgrade my plan for the last 2 years, but enough is enough.

The other thing is... they bar you from signing up to other new plans, like their Easy Mobile if you are on the Multi-Line.

Quite terrible. Just don't do it.

I am sticking it out for the rest of my contract and then move my entire family out of Singtel.

If i am not wrong, all 3 telcos are doing the same thing. I dont see how you could siam it even if u choose other telcos..

Moreover, ur claim is very questionable. SIngtel has not changed its plans for so many years and has not increased the subscription until the recent combo plans.

The super old classic plan was discontinued after more than half a decade of service..

Also, multi line discount is only for mioHome and fibre entertainment bundle users. You can nominate the number and remove the number from multi line discount whenenver you want. No pressure what.

The problem is ending work the cost of mobile dropping drastically. Just buy non contract but by then they will think of new ways of digging from you again.

What do you cite other telcos upgrading to lower plan nonsense? Completely irrelevant. Look... I subscribe to their mio home plan, pay a lot of money each month, and one of the promised perks was a 12 month handset upgrade every 12 months. No other telcos tell you that you can upgrade your handset every 12 months, and then change their plans every 12 months so that you cannot upgrade with the same plan. You are forced to upgrade your plan to enjoy the promised perk. That is nothing short of trickery and is no laughing matter.

Unfortunately, I don't have 5 lines tagged to the scheme. I was banking on the yearly upgrade which they promised. However, they force me to upgrade my plan yearly if I want to enjoy the yearly upgrade, which is not part of the understanding. I find that very underhanded and do not appreciate it at all. Beyond the maths, a decent company should really think about doing right by their loyal customers.

I went to recontract my wife's line yesterday and ST said I have to recontract my Mio as well, which would mean paying another $70 a month for the same service. I told them to shove it and will switch all my lines over to SH, since I already have SH TV, when the contracts for my Mio and all lines expire in a few months. ST labels me a Privilege Red customer but it means nothing to them I guess.

i hv been on the Flexi Lite Plan for a couple of yrs b4 paying extra $3 for the Combo 2.
i assumed u were frm the Classic Plan. i guess it's jz wrong timing for u as ST needs to end the Classic Plan n then the Flexi Plan.

Yeah, my bundle is the old Mio plan. I really don't need Mio and am not about to agree to pay even more for it. When I cancel Mio soon, I think the SH bundle will be the most price competitive option for me but will still do my homework first and weigh all my options (bundled or unbundled)

So basically you upgrading to same plan, do note other telcos also increase $3 cos of 4G might be force down by IDA so all 3 telco charge. You can upgrade every year but of cos to the same plan or higher, you should know that when you sign its a 2 years contract and downgrading will be chargeable before contract end. Never read contract term meh? to allow you to recontract yearly just a perk cos you have mio home bundle.

You never read my post meh? I want to recontract on the same plan, but they change their plans every year. No, it is not to cover 4G cost. It is most likely so that customers cannot recontract on the same plan to enjoy the promised 12 month upgrade, because the same plan does not exist anymore. It is not just a $3 increase. It is a $7 increase for largely the same talk time and data. I get more SMS which nobody needs these days with iMessage and WhatsApp. I was on Mio Plan. Last year, they stopped Mio Plan and asked me to go with Mio Home, with Mio TV. I did not want their crappy TV, but no choice. The bundled mobile plan was called Value. This year, they say I must go with Combo3 and pay more for services I don't need. Enough is enough. I am foregoing the option/perk to upgrade yearly just so that I can break from them once the 24 months contract is up.

Note, it is not yearly free upgrade of phone but yearly recontract. It gives, you the option on recontracting earlier every year instead of 2 years. Recontract means your contract starts afresh and you get the bundled phone.

Of course when you start a contract you can only do so on existing plans. You can choose not to recontract earlier and allow it to run the full 2 years if you are not happy with the new plans. But at the end of 2 years you will still face the same problem.

Cost of SMS get cheaper and cheaper as less and less people want it. SMS has already gone the same way for most of us as Postal Service has gone for all of us. Notice nobody uses the postal service anymore for personal communication? It's all business correspondence now. For most, SMS is the same - a business correspondence tool. A look at the "Inbox" will show that most SMS you get are notifications, OTP and advertisements.

Cost of DATA gets more expensive as more people demand for more data, and better technology becomes available (4G VAS fee is waived for now, but until how long?) We depend on data like we do on water. It's the reality of the 21st century, and it's here to stay for a while. The best we can do is to reduce the cost by tapping into our collective knowledge and making smarter decisions regarding our phone plans and usage.
