Hello crispypeddler and all bros,
I AM FACING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THANK GOD SOMEONE ELSE HERE HAS STARTED A THREAD!!! Let me explain the problem in detail.
1) I have been plagued with slow internet speed for many months already (I cant even remember when it started). After doing a speed test, I realised that my upload/download is called at 100mbps, it is usually displaying 90+ for both. I have to turn off and off both my router and my ONT many times, before the speed becomes normal. However, after a few days, it randomly becomes capped again.
2) After calling Singtel and getting their technician to check, they are unable to resolve the issue, even after coming to my place. I am very sure the cables are not damaged, and I have even changed my third party router to make sure its not the router issue.
3) Another Singtel technician told me to change the router back to the Singtel standard issue router, and VOILA, the speed got back to 700+mbps. He then commented "maybe the router sent a config back to the ONT".
4) I changed back to my third party router, and the speed stays normal for a few days again. However, the slow issue returns.
As of now, my only solution is to unplug my router, plug back the singtel default router and turn it on, "wait for it to send a config back to the ont", and then plug back my router. It always works, but the issue keeps coming back.
I don't think Singtel even gives a damn because they say they are not involved when it comes to third party router. I'm suspecting Singtel is doing this on purpose to discourage us from using third party routers.
How can the issue be solved when plugging back the singtel issued router, then come again when we use a third party router? Furthermore, the issue doesn't happen immediately, it happens a few days after (seems random)
Any bros or pros here have any technical knowledge of this?
