Hi I need recommendation on where to ski in early dec near Tokyo.

Will be there from 1/12 to 12/12.

Cheaper to ski early of the week or later of the week?

Planning a 4 day 3 night ski.
Where can I enquiry and book?

Ski resorts might not open in early december even in Hokkaido... less say those near Tokyo... U might want to push the dates later to be safe... unless you are talking abt those indoor ski resorts...

I'd recommend going to Echigo Yuzawa. There's a ski resort on top of the train station called gala yuzawa. There are cheaper resorts there but you will need to take a bus. Last year went snowboarding at Naeba as I wanted to learn how to snowboard without breaking the bank.

I do have a question for those who have ski free and easy.

As for gear and ski pass, can I go there then rent from any shop? Or is it better to get through an agency in Tokyo before the trip?

I am wondering how most of you guys do it if don't buy package.

Ski resorts have gears that you can rent on site. For a full day, the rental fee from top to bottom for a ski outfit is around $80 or more. If it's your first time, do allocate around 30-45 minutes to get yourself geared up.

You mean the ski gondolas? Yes, it does. Some is bundled with the day pass ticket whereas some requires you to purchase extra. Gala Yuzawa is the latter.
