Got one spare to try.

4.5/4.5 core/cache at DDR4-2800 seems very easy at 1.25v. No tweaks, just enter arbitrary vcore and boom!
The speed is almost reach the 8T 4790k! :D

Temps seem fairly good at this settings, after 12mins stress. :D

Your batch so bad? :(

btw Skylake expected to short supply, i saw simlim prices inching upwards since last week launch, so hoot first. Upgrade while you can!
AMDK dont even have Skylake yet while our local Made in Malaysia batch is while stocks last :D

Chief executive officer of Asustek Computer confirmed on Friday that there is a shortage of Intel Corp.’s “Skylake” processors in the market. Last month a Sweden-based retailer warned enthusiasts about short supply of Intel’s new central processing units with unlocked multiplier. As it appears, the problem is not limited to desktop chips, but also concerns mobile CPUs. Intel admits that there is a shortage of new processors and vows to increase availability.

"In September we are going to produce a lot of 'Skylake' products, but we expect significant shortage of 'Skylake' globally, not just for Asus. That is why in August we have Windows 10, but 'Skylake' only accounts for a very small percentage. In the fourth quarter, 'Skylake' will take a higher percentage..... is in significant shortage right now in the third quarter."

Overrated CPU...

Wait till we see a good 10-15% CPU performance jump den we talk.

5820K is one year old and probably thrash this newcomer when both are OCed.

I thought this chip not very good at OC-ing.....

So far i can say it is OC simple and quicker than haswell. Brings back memory of Sandy Bridge days. :D

6600K is about 10-15% faster clock for clock than haswell. More if compared to Sandy.

6600K secret is how easy it is to OC the cache and DDR4 for extra speed over haswell.

I think Sandy users will be pleasantly surprised 6600K can OC, no reason buy Haswell when Skylake is same pricing here for now....prices may Sky-rocket once our supply die down. :D

5820K is good but also more expensive, can get 6600K rig for half the price. :D

Again u are relying on a source that wasnt even reliable... How many reviews u have or personal forums experience that u find in XMS or OCN that claim what u just said?

10% to 15%? where u pull out that number from?

If u just wanna be a skylake fanboy den I got nothing more to say, but stop misleading people here claim 10-15% faster and its worth a upgrade when its not.

Woah, chill man, did Skylake killed your cat or something? :D
Some bench may show less than 10% over Haswell, but others do better. Dont forget Skylake cache and ddr4 overclock is very easy, that will net you some
more performance than stock tests.

Can we get back to SIC skylake overclock experience?

Btw Mr Krabs, i am using a simple 120mm single fan noctua cooler in matx casing. It is very cool i think unless you breach the thermal limits. :D

Any sign of degrading for those oc?

Skylake is designed with new VRM power delivery that needs lower amount of current but higher amount of vcore. Doubt it will degrade badly even at 1.4-1.45v.

It is a different beast and quite easy to overclock.. :D

Hope to see more Skylakers OC this weekend :D

modest 6600K tearing up the single core at 4.7/4.7/2.8 trio ratio.

5 min stressing, core temps under 62 Celsius using modest 120mm single fan cooler, she is one cool beast. :D

Some people asked why only 2.8 on the DDR4? Well because i used cheapo 2.4 DDR4, and at default 1.2v, can hoot to 2.8 already!

I feel with some vmem and timings tweaks, it will break 3 easily. :D

it seems to be running on a lower voltage when running on max clockspeed but not on its idle clockspeed (1.28V)?

what do i need to disable? :o

Running on lower voltage when understress is due to vdroop. Some safety feature inbuilt by Intel. It is normal.

But stuck at 1.28v on idle is abnormal.

Likely cause
-did you use fixed vcore? that is you keyed in 1.28v in your bios?
-did you enabled intel speedstep in cpu configuration of your bios? Also did you enable all c-states for best power savings?
-did you disabled Svid in bios? It should be left on Auto/Enabled for Skylake chips.
-did you enabled balance power settings in Windows "power options"?
-you should use at least auto vcore.
-best imo is to use adaptive vcore with overclocking.

Present Skylake chips should be good at 4.5 to 4.7 on average at below 1.3v.

So far with limited samples, 1.3v for Skylake is equivalent to 1.2v for Haswell/Ivy, in terms of heat output. :D

C state is an art - just that they made it not easy to understand from the mobo bios.

I dont understand why are u advertising for skylake when there are clearly no incentive of upgrading, if u are building a new PC, den yes it is probably good to go for Skylake if u have the cash, if not a 2nd hand IB/SB will do the job just fine

And no, the last I check you cannot OC 6700K cache and the capacity amount remain same as haswell counterpart, did u mistake 6700K with 5775C eDram clock?

It could be slightly better than Haswell but dont blow proportion out of water claiming its 15% IPC improvement unless u do personal review and show us. :)
