Hi there,

I have an slow laptop Dell XPS 15 9530, the specs is i7 processor with 16gb ram and 1TB Harddisk and 16gb msata ssd.
The last time I formatted it is 4 months ago.

I have already tried the following and the startup time is still around like 2mins.

1. Disk Defragment
2. Error Checking
3. Uninstalling Unnecessary program.

One thing to note is that the HD is encrypted so that I have to enter the password everytime I start.

You could try disabling all unnecessary startup programs.

You can do this through windows task manager.

Did a clean format, did you enable Intel rapid start inside the Intel IRT software?
The MSATA is a cache meant for fast start/shutdown.

1. Open Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC or right-click the taskbar)

2.Click on more details.

3. On the Process tab, click on CPU to sort by the amout of cpu utilisation

You should be able to see which process is hogging your machine

4. Repeat for the the Memory

Sent from Samsung SM-G930F using GAGT

can try to download and install the IOBit Advance System Care. It helps to shorten the boot time to be below 2 mins for my 6 years old laptop.

Disable the encryption (bitlocker). Encryption slows down everything...
Turn off virtual memory or pagefile. The 16GB is more than enough for normal programs.
Turn off hibernation.
