I was using apple watch ultra 1 for few years, when I run at level 26 running track, apple watch GPS always haywire, but since I'm using garmin last year, GPS almost perfect, and battery can last at least for 2 weeks :)

OnePlus watch 4 which is the same as Oppo watch 3.

You can get OnePlus watch 4 for around $300 or slightly lesser when discount period.

Freaking awesome watch for the price.

Actually as long as the payment booth accepts visa or masters NFC, garmin pay will work with them all, dont need to have the garmin pay logo explicitly .

I know because I pay with it frequently and even works for Ezlink bus rides.
Garmin Pay I think not supporting many bank credit cards in SG

Besides Apple and Samsung.

Anyone currently using other brand Smart phone to recommend?

Would like to wear for jogging w/o bringing my phone, there after go for lunch/dinner and able to pay using app within the phone.
If budget is not an issue - Oppo watch X3 or OnePlus watch 4

If wanna get for value for $ - Huawei watch GT 5 (take note no NFC payment function)

The problem with Garmin is their rubber strap is crap cheapo fkup quality, I remember I need to buy replacement strap every year when I was using it few years back. Initially is quite flexible, after a few months became hardened, then followed by breaking.

Now I change to Fitbit the rubber strap lasted as long as the watch itself, after 3 years wearing 24x7 the strap still swee swee.

On the contrary I am trying to shift away from smart watches.

Using a Garmin for years with all the features you mentioned but in the long run, my exercise regime is 3 times a week. So outside those days I do not wear the fitness tracker watch.

Furthermore, my stats are very fixed and static so I basically know them without even looking at the watch so at this stage I am contemplating downgrading to a fitbit air instead.

To me the more important thing is the motivation to exercise, at this stage have watch or no watch is no difference. Unless you're a competitive athlete and needs the stats for your training.
Can track the stress, hrv and sleep 24/7.

Can I check how's the batery life? How frequent you need to charge it for normal usage?
Last around 1.5 to 2 days with LTE always on. Usually I just connect it to the magnetic charging puck when I get home. A marathon shouldn't be a problem.

Yah, the fitbit air can sufficiently do all these.
Yes I know many brands can.

But you said you were trying to shift away from smart watches. So its not a matter of brand.

Personally if you choose to wear a smart watch, the brand Google, Huawei, Samsung, Garmin, Apple, etc is a matter of preference.

You mean app within the watch?

Other alternative:
Use normal watch: time based running instead of distance based… eg run for 1hr or 30mins…

Bring cash for your meals…
