New Sony Lyt 828 sensor announced.
- 17 stops dynamic range ( likelihood some kind of stacking rather than single frame )
- Ultra-High Conversion Gain (UHCG) technology.
- HDR live preview
- 50MP 1/1.28" sensor.
- Even less noise than 818.

Unlikely will see this in Elite 2 basic phones since they are going to be launched in 3-4 months and usually smaller cheaper sensors.

Fingers crossed on Elite 2 pro / flagships since Vivo adopted Lyt 818 in x200 series rather quickly, probably some agreements inked behind official announcements. Maybe x300 pro and ultra?

Chinese phone makers seem to be pivoting to domestic large sensor makers, and I dun think Sony Xperia will want to use this anytime soon if ever.

Sensor inbuit AI learning-based remosaicing function is interesting but there are too many bad Ai-ed smartphone photos around, hopefully there is an option to switch on/off.

With reach that poor, i think smaller sensor with 200mm like the s21 s22 s23 ultra is still better

Telephoto only have 1 use case 99% of the time, take concert videos

OmniVision unveils its own high-end 200MP sensor, the OVB0D

The OmniVision OVB0D has a very high full-well capacity (400k) and dynamic range, and uses DCG + LOFIC Gen 2 technology for its multi-frame HDR processing. That helps it handle extreme HDR scenarios better. The LOFIC Gen 2 and 108dB of dynamic range promise good handling of mixed lighting within a scene.

According to noted tipster Iceuniverse, the OVB0D is headed to flagships from vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, and Honor in 2026.

He says that Samsung is unlikely to adopt either of the new, larger 200MP sensors from Sony or OmniVision, due to "rising costs and declining profitability". Samsung will instead continue to use a smaller 200MP 1/1.3-inch sensor, similar to the ongoing HP2.
