Hi guys, I'll be enlisting in tekong bmtc pretty soon and I was just wondering if smartphones (e.g. iphone) are allowed in. Heard conflicting news from various sources and friends and the mindef website didn't exactly mention anything so...:/

Smartphones, be it non-cam or cam are allowed.

Wall chargers are not allowed though.

Depending on BMT company, you may/may not be able to bring a powerbank with external USB charging cable(s).

Those powerbanks with built-in charging cables are definitely accepted.

powerbanks depend on your company but just bring in, they won't punish you or anything, at most will keep for you and return it on your first bookout and ask you not to bring in when booking in again

For my time, a bunk mate brought in a charger on enlistment.

After that never bring out all the way till we Pop.

Do anything but don't get caught.

Is it worth the risk of getting it stolen to bring one in for BMT? I read that the bunk cabinet isn't very secure.

I'm thinking of moving onto a smartphone as well, but still thinking if I actually should...

It ain't secure if you don't lock it. U r required to store ur rifle in there at times. The security of ur rifle is of utmost importance.

Totally agreed!

By the way, I'm pretty sure you won't have much time to use your phone also, if you PES a/b bmt.
Everyday drill till you drop dead...

I ever saw whole company full battle order fall in at 3 am, do burpee, because some idiot violate lights out rules... sucks for them.

What about tales of thieves ripping open the door from its hinges? Surely even a lock won't help. I'm curious about the risks of bringing expensive belongings into camp. Needless to say, are there any reports of rifles being stolen, even if that sounds dumb? :s13:

What about PES BP BMT? I'm most probably heading that way.

Yeah. All the time get stolen!!
The sergeant are the ones stealing them! And you will get extra duty for the mistakes.
The first few days, they will go through a list of things allowed or ban.
Just follow.

PES BP = overweight??
It's the same bmt but with even more exercise and weight loss goals.

Ok. here the thing. you are required to store your rifle in your locker at times.

Your commanders may at times come in to check if you lock your lockers. if u didn't, they will steal ur rifle and say bye bye to your weekend.

I never heard of thieves ripping open the door from it's hinges. If that's really the case, you see how many lock downs they will have in tekong.

I don't think your platoon mates etc will do themselves the disfavour of doing that.

Well u r not wrong in having the thought about the risk of bringing expensive stuff... it's more likely that it will gone missing if you never lock it, then u lock it and it goes missing. cause as I said, the rifle will be under lock in ur locker some of the times...

Also, u will see how shi!t standby universe is, if ppl report stuff missing.

PES BP should have more time
