Yes, the courses in SMU does not have any specific diploma prerequisite.

Yes, that is right. As for the interview part, the interviewee are suppose to go through a programming tutorial (stated in the interview email/call from SMU) before the interview. During the interview, interviewee will be asked to attempt one exercise in 15 minutes using the knowledge gained from doing the tutorial. Don't worry, it's ok if you can't do correctly, but interviewee are expected to explain program code (eg overview of how you plan to solve the problem, why you type this code). So basically, this technical aspect of the interview is just to demonstrate your problem solving/logic thinking skills to the interviewers.
