Snapdragon 800 series SoCs...

In this day and age, technology is blooming and advancing exponentially. But I feel that for smartphone SoC wise, (Qualcomm, in this case) is not thriving as what many smartphone enthusiasts would want it to be...

I feel that in terms of performance, the 800, 801, 805 and 810 differs slightly. Like for example, take the 800 vs 805, load time for apps have no drastic difference albeit 805 is a 'significant' bump over its predecessors (tested over the Xperia Z1 and Galaxy Note 4).

Btw, benchmarks doesnt show the full potential of a phone....

So why are many consumers still crazy over the specs of a flagship phone?

Its just my opinion...... I just feel that its wiser to spend lesser amt of money on older flagship phone since it provide already enough power to accommodate all your smartphone needs.

I know logically, the previous flagship or even something older should be good enough since smartphones are already very good and each new one is only a tiny bit better than the previous (unlike 5 years ago when they were pretty terrible and each new one was a HUGE improvement over previous)...

But then it's so tempting to get the latest and greatest when it's all marketed in your face all day by the media, and you don't want to miss out of the awesome new "features" (which you won't really need in your daily life).

Snapdragon is is very hot. No good for mobile but manufacturers are lacking choice.

Ya.. and it seems many Sgporeans go only for watever are the flagship models available at the moment i.e. the latest and greatest.. that's why sale stats show that flagships sell the best among all the phone models in SG by a wideeeeee margin........

I feel the same too. Esp when I'm using aosp on my phone. Don't really need the latest processor to run well. I'm not buying into the oem skins on top of android, but the typical user probably would coz they won't bother rooting their phones and experimenting with custom roms.

Cos manufacturers made most believe you need a octo core, 4Gb ram and a very ramped up gpu chip to just surf net and watch movies on our mobiles.

Yes. It will be interesting to see how Samsung exynos 7 series 14nm processors compare to Snapdragon 810 in heat produce during intensive load and battery life.

Exynos is 8 cores right. Heard gd reviews abt exynos performance compared to snapdragon. The problem is when ur phone heats up, battery will drain fast also.
