technically, you can't really go snorkel by yourself, you need to join some company and go out in a group.
In addition to that doing it by yourself is quite dangerous and having a buddy is safer imo.

Be careful if I were you - if you can find a buddy to accompany you it would be better. Snorkeling alone sounds a bit dangerous. Take care

Many experienced snorkellers will find no problem with the idea of snorkelling alone, but experience doesn't allow you to control the conditions around you. ... If it's a controlled area with slow currents, then you should be OK, but if you're hitting up an unfamiliar spot then it's not a good idea to snorkel alone.

go koh lipe, u can basically jump into the water right off the beach. Save you money. If u are a very good sea water swimmer, u can swim to the opposite island. If not, go siloso beach LOL

What’s the point of practicing in a pool
Then?

you said first time, right? so you just going to jump in the sea and figure out how to put on and adjust mask, breath through snorkle, clear snorkle, surface hover and duck dive? are you a good swimmer? The beach/Sea environment may not be friendly, you may be disoriented, fighting currents, rip tides, rocks, urchins, corals, and bitten by sea bugs, jellyfish etc

Find a condo pool and at least get comfortable first or your first experience at sea won’t be so great.

You can also try snorkelling in Adventure Cove.
