Only 8 cores :vijayadmin:

She says that it is running an 8 core 16 thread Ryzen. She did not mention specifically which Ryzen it was. The other leaks may still be accurate in that it may be a Ryzen 7 and we can expect a Ryzen 9 as well seeing just how much die space it takes on the CPU itself. We can definitely expect a bigger brother to take up that empty space.

Sometimes, companies may decide to put their product on hold even though they are way ready for launch just so that they can see and one up whatever their opponent may be planning to release. Thus why AMD may choose to hold back their launch to see if they can further optimize the die so that it can launch a better performing CPU still earlier than its competition while beating whatever its competition is planning to release.

This is indeed a better strategy considering in its current state the CPU is at, the CPU can already outperform the 9900K as is.
But AMD is doing an even better strategy by playing the waiting game till they see what their competition's upcoming 10nm or 7nm die and performance will be like and beat them by giving that same performance but releasing it earlier than Intel.

The Ryzen 3000 series clearly has space for a second die. Or they my even try something like putting a Vega or Navi on it. If so, that will be an excellent laptop solution.

whatever happened to the "mechanical instability" excuse they pulled for threadripper?

amd, are you even trying!?

IF AMD can put 2x 7nm CPUs and 1 IO chip, they would have done it. They would very much like to show how Zen2 can crush Intel 9900K. Most likely they have to take out 1 7nm CPU in order for the chip to run reliably. So Zen2 to the market.... NOT SO FAST. They have to work out the kinks. :o

Since ryzen is alot smaller than thread ripper, there will be less issues. Chip is alot more rigid.

I dont think they need anything more than 8 core for ryzen... afterall its mainstream, not highend.

I think this where people tend to jump to the conclusion that its only 8 cores. The purpose was to reveal working Ryzen 3 on 7nm and compare it with a similar 8 core Intel processor.

Also I would question if it wise to continuously increase core count by 2x every year. First the softwares are barely catching up, and secondly, it is not sustainable upgrade. Intel has been releasing 4 core chips for close to a decade, but nobody complains.

If? They already did 8x 7nm CPU with Epyc chips leh.
