I think ish means calvary chiong first, then arty come, which ish wrong. Because usually ish arty bombard first then calvary chiong

Seems in edmw its not used correctly ?

But i find it weird that this killer move in chess is used to describe something negative

Or

马在炮后面

How on earth could you possibly interpret it as horse behind cannon? Even your own words clearly show you which sequence matches the saying.

In chess, it means moving the cannon after the other side has moved their horse, hence too late.
