So who ordered the new rMBP?

After the Apple keynote I noticed the SG Apple Store didn't seem updated, went back a few hours later, same deal, still saw the old rMBP listed. The page seemed to have a few errors on it, so I tried searching 'Retina MacBook Pro Apple Store Singapore' on google, click the link, and suddenly I get to the updated Apple Store page with the new rMBPs listed?

By the time I found this strange workaround I notice the shipping date changed to mid-November

Wish I figured it out sooner. Anyways, I'm happy to finally be able to get the latest and greatest MBP to replace my ageing 3.5 year old setup using *gasp* snow leopard still (people like me are the guys Craig Federighi was laughing at when he said that Mavericks would be free and even people running Snow Leopard would have no excuse not to upgrade). The new rMPBs are still really expensive but if they last as long as my current system, hopefully maybe longer? It's money well spent.

I was convinced on it's long-term sustainability when I saw the ability to configure for a 1TB PCI-E SSD, Wifi AC, and of course TB2 with the bandwidth to drive 4K displays (which I'm sure will one day take over the current standard for HD displays). The added battery life from Haswell is just icing on the cake. I'm really happy with this revision and couldn't ask for more! The only thing I wished is that they put all these upgrades in the cMBP too so I could buy that and save some money, but it's obvious they're trying hard to phase it out so I understand that they just decided to let it die a natural death.

Can't wait for it to arrive. Anyone else place their order yet?

Definitely a welcome for price drop for the base model mbpr 13. But at the expense of 4gb ram

They may assure us 6gb of apps compress into 4gb of ram, but ain't gonna buy that story.

hi5 bro. I am using 4 years old 15" MBP with Snow Leopard and it's been a great machine. Snow Leopard is the best OS so far for me before Maverick comes.

Placed my order right after the keynote (3AM), my budget is below $2k so I was satisfied with 8GB RAM and 128 SSD CTO. Better find external HDD to make up for storage space.

What surprised me most is the shipping date (Mid-November). Anyone knows exactly what is "pending regulatory approval"? I guess SG store has stocks on hand but they can't ship right now due to legal issues? My friends in US, UK and Malaysia all say can grab one within 24hrs, so bad for Singapore customers...

Theres also a dual core version of the i7 processor. Unfortunately apple only gives you quad cores in the 15 inch MBP

Both are dual core.... the speed boost going to be significant?

Thinking of maxing out the 16gb to future proof it a little.

Agreed. Everyone has different needs but macs last a long long time if you want them to, and (IMO) it pays to get as many upgrades as you need and can afford. Over the long term, the upgrade costs spread over the period of ownership become small when considered on a 'cost per day' basis. Although I really must concede, Apple sure knows how to 'cut vegetable head' when it comes to charging for the upgrades. The RAM and SSD upgrade is particularly painful...for me at least

I wouldn't go for cpu upgrade. Cpu have advanced significantly, only benchmark and certain cpu intensive applications show true improvement. unless your few seconds in life is worth billions, else spend that money elsewhere on ram (8gb recommended) and ssd.

The SSD in the rMBP is actually upgradable (at least the previous one was). Not sure if it still is with the PCI-E interface or not.

Only problem is that although you can unplug your current SSD and put in a new one, the rMBP SSD is a custom type/size/socket and as far as I know the only aftermarket ones are from OWC. And they are super expensive. and they don't go higher than 480GB. So if you want 1TB (like I do), there is no other option other than getting Apple's SSD. For now at least
