Seems like the rebooting thingy has depleted my iPhone battery charging ability. From 100% to 40% within one hour from browsing & WhatsApp only!!

Hmm maybe the battery percentage is not reflecting the actual charge percentage left. Looks like a software issue. Have you reset your phone (press and hold the volume up and then volume down buttons followed by holding the sleep/wake button until screen turns off and turns back on with Apple logo)?

After my X went on the latest update, I encounter battery issue. The battery got depleted fairly quickly; dropped 1% every few minute during standby. Troubleshoot and realised the Carousell and few other apps spent more time running in the background than my actual usage. Didn’t resolved after a reset via the side and volume button, I reset via the Setting and set up as new phone again and this resolved the issue.

The current issue was the location on my weather widget is not updated whenever I moved from place to place. I have my location service on and my weather app works fine. It seem that the app and widget don’t ‘talk’. Anyone encounter this issue and solution?

Just to check, did you turn on background refresh for the weather app? And is the location service turned on as ‘Always” or ‘Whenever in use” for the app?

I'm using Carrot Weather and for any weather app, location services are always on.

Can one enlighten me about Background Refresh?

From my understanding, Background Refresh works whenever there are new contents and the apps update in the background automatically (phone is locked and standby).

When it is off, user will need to manually refresh the apps for new content.

In this aspect, is it true that certain apps may also update it contents automatically but only when the user unlocks the phone and launches the app?

From what I know, background app refresh only works when the app is opened. If you swiped up in the multi tasking window to close the app, any background activity for it won’t be updated until you open the app the next time.

I might be wrong. Hope the bros here can clarify.

your understanding is there.

Background app refresh is a setting to enable or disable apps from functioning in the background, be it you sleep the phone or not. as long as the app is not being used in the foreground, it will refresh behind.

Certain apps will show up with this option while some don't. it depends on how developers created the app.

When you disable background app refresh, the app will only be frozen without any activity or data transmission until it is launched in the foreground..

With background app refresh turned on, doesn't matter if there are new contents or not, because these apps will become active in background for sync, or even pinging the server to fetch new contents. This is especially true when you plug in and has wifi turned on, these apps will continuously work in the background and give you the most updated content.

Does the app require to be running in the background, as in not closed from the multi tasking view, for the background app refresh to work?

im surprised no one complained about WifI issue?!

I cant seem to stay on any Wifi network (2.4GHz AND 5GHz) beyond 6metres from router. Am on iPhone X, 11.2

Def not a router problem as my iPhone SE (on iOS 11.0.2) could catch 5GHz as far as 12metres from router!

Does anyone have an issue with WhatsApp messages delay?

After I upgraded to iOS 11.2, I do not get notification when someone messages me in WhatsApp. But when I launch the app, all messages will come in.

I have reset WhatsApp notification setting, iPhone all settings, uninstall and install back WhatsApp but nothing helps. I also did not close WhatsApp in the app switcher. My background app refresh for WhatsApp is turned on too.

Can anyone help? It's frustrating cos I gotta keep opening the app to check for any new messages.

Yes I have tried reinstalling but still the same problem. Never had this problem when I was on iOS 11.1.2

Whatsapp has been spotty for the past week or so.. Also try not to clear out your multi-tasking screen. There is honestly no need to do so unless you need to restart the application due to some error.

Try reinstalling the app by removing it first? I don’t have this issue though.

I only have an issue when WhatsApp app is exited and then I get a notification for nothing new in app...
