I just found out why my memory usage increased. For some reason after installing 7.1, my "Other" usage spiked from ~1.4GB to 2.82GB. But I didn't do anything.

My wife iphone 5s 16gb has 1.7 GB space left.. It cannot upgrade until it has 2.5GB of space available..

is it necessary to do a restore via itunes after updating firmware? so far my ipad air and iphone 5 is running smoothly without any issue. though my iphone is running low on space, 2+gb left. not sure if i have that little left before the update of after...

If u did a restore instead of update, then restore from backup, you will clear some of the cache and space.

I've noticed a new problem. The volume button does not work when you try to increase or reduce volume when using an app. Esp whatsapp. Anyone else facing similar issues?

updated ios 7.1 on dad 5c and he love it
more contrast color and faster tooo even on a 5c

but i didnt update mine as i prefer more ligther color hahah

i update on a my old mac i clean format and install maverick
i connect to my mac and backup and DL the ios 7.1 n let it update
after update my dad 5c capacity comes out more space too

tested bluetooh airdrop no issue on my ipad retina o 7.04
on my dad 5c on 7.1

no isue on volume

I agree in the stability part, cos i was replying to the poster referring to the overall speed of the the phone and not stability. Safari really is stable, have to try a few more days to see how it is though

I just discovered that after the update to 7.1, those new contacts that I've entered after 7.04 have duplicate addresses. I've tried deleting the duplicate addresses & un-ticking iCloud in the Groups on the top left hand corner but it doesn't solve the problem. Anyone has the same issue after the update? I'm still using 4s BTW...

Darn wow. My memory went from 6.2GB free to now 8.5GB free. Can't believe it.
