I never ever plug my phone into the PC, always iCloud backup and OTA update.

bros and pros,

I have met with a little problem while trying to update my wife's 6+ OTA.

she is currently using a 6+ 64 gb silver set and I tried to update her software to iOS 8.1.2 but when I went to settings it said that the update was for iOS 8.1.1 and I thought it was fine because I usually update on her behalf and I was in reservist for 2 weeks.

I proceeded to hit the install iOS 8.1.1 and it was done with no issues, after the phone completed the restart process, I tried to go back to update her phone to iOS 8.1.2 but this time it didn't work.

the error I encountered was "unable to check for update" saying that "an error occurred while checking for a software update".

anyone here encountered this before? kindly help as I am stuck now.

Shouldn't be this way.. In fact updating via iTunes supposed to be faster than OTA.

err OTA is always smaller so likely will be faster. iTunes will download e full firmware. latest 8.1.2 firmware stands at around 2GB.

downside to OTA is it requires more free space on yr device since the downloaded update needs space to unpack it's contents. if u use iTunes, e unpacking is done on yr mac/pc so it requires lesser free space on yr device.
