Why you people want to use Siri on a Laptop or Desktop? Voice recognition systems may be useful in a car when driving, but I feel it is very silly to speak to a computer.

other than booking appointments and uber.

you can also ask Siri to locate files. refine the search further. pin results.

at least they didnt jus port the experience from phone straight to desktop without any addition.


then again. i rarely or even use Siri (other than checking out the answer she gives given a number divided by zero). the usefulness of personal assistant has got a long way to go.

using Mac mini (Late 2012) upgraded to macOS Sierra just to get the Auto Unlock with Apple Watch, but no such feature found in this Mac mini.

Maverick to sierra might be too huge to handle, I'm afraid you might encounter issues with it.

I tried before to upgrade like you before, in the end need to restore clean...

restore clean means Internet Recovery method right? sorry, me is newbie in mac

so best path is maverick to yosemite or el capitan? than sierra? thanks

You see? You one shot jump to latest os is a risk. Though Apple is smart enough to select the critical updates first before running Sierra, but sometimes may fail.

You can avoid this if you conscientiously do your updates regularly.. LOL..

didn't realize need to constant update, bery mafan wor, just thinking of one shot update moar clear cut. nevermind lar, i stick to maverick first, is apple come with recovery partition as well? in case anything went wrong i can do recovery. i only have mac mini, no other apple product, so sierra doesnt sounds attractive to me.

Itunes shows i have 250 photos in my iPhone but i only have 1. All recently deleted is also empty. Any one knows how to rid the '250' photos?

Just a few days ago upgraded my Mac mini Late 2012 to macOS Sierra, now regret the upgrade.
iMessage is buggy, I can send out a message but new messages doesn't get in except for the iMessage I send for myself.
Connecting to my NAS also much much slower for the first initial connection.
The most disappointment is the Apple Watch auto-unlock doesn't work with Mac mini.

for comparison, I also have MacBook Pro Retina 13" 2014 still running El Capitan, and didn't find any issue with the iMessage and NAS connection.

Updated yesterday from El Capitan to Sierra.

For the first time, really loving this update than any of the updates done after Snow leopard.

Downloading and upgrading is way faster than Yosemite.

Very Smooth. Not laggy. Didn't have much issue.

Not a fan of Siri right from the start. So didn't really bother to use Siri.

my startup with El Capitan is already very long.. wonder if Sierra will be just as long or longer..

Upgraded MacBook Pro 2010 from El Capitan to Sierra. Actually I didn't find any difference.

I am on imac2011 too. Upgraded to ssd awhile back. Sierra is abit faster than el capitan.
