Hi

My children's room are under strong sun rays during the afternoon and these made the rooms feels like oven at night.

I thought of installing solar films that can block out sun rays but are not sure whether they are effective.

Anyone has installed them in your home ?
Would like to hear from you whether it helps.

Thank you

I recently did mine only. My main purpose is to have privacy as my main window is quite expose to opposite corridor. Still, I opt for a better heat reduction around 70-80% film. Wow even my wife is surprised the house feels cooler now during the day!

There's various kind of film which my installer demo to me with a heat lamp and a heat meter at my place. The solar films (which people install in car windscreen), provides best clarity n heat reduction (close to 98%). But they cost more so I didn take up. In summary, I think its a worthy investment, even more in long run. For the few hundred bucks I spent, I only regret why I didn't try this earlier.

Can share the brand and price of your solar film? Does it darken your window and increase its reflectivity by alot?

my new bto, was in reflective silver; both side.
applies for all windows.

personally, we feel its a lifesaver; block heat and direct sunlight on our parquet, leather furniture during day time.
while at night, using minimum light to lit up the whole area..

both win solution for us.

Mine is from usa..

Many kinds of film. If u want full heat block, but clear film no darken, then it will be solar film, the kind they use in car.

Sorry I don't know brand, installer do for me. Not by 3m I know.
If you keen pm me for contact. He will go your house demo the various types of films.

Well it will not pass the house inspection during selling and buying. HDB inspector will only "OK" if the "not allowed" is redone or remove. They also check for spoiled items too eg. cracked tiles, leaking pipe etc. Must remedied all before inspector can "Passed" for selling.

Window film exceeding 20% is one of the criteria too. Can do but had to remove ($ incurred or Diy at $0) if you "sold" your house.

Not only that lah.. high reflective films can cause the reflected rays to shine into opposite blk unit houses.. so they may complain..
