you are right, singtel wants to market their's as more premium. It's 5G+. Last time from, 4G to 4G+ is speed advancement. But 5G and 5G+ are 2 entirely different thing
That blog which starts with oc. claims they detected Starhub enabling n28 with their eight SIM card. So what advantage does Singtel's 5G+ have anymore?

❌ 700MHz - Competition also had access to 700MHz and has started using it
❌ 5G SA - Competition launched it years ago and for everyone
❌ Network slicing - Disadvantage to everyone but those on Singtel Priority >$55 plans
✅ Public perception that 5G+ is superior - Singtel's marketing budget no.1 of course :D
In before future M1/Simba calls theirs 5G Elite (e)

Starhub is only starting to enable their 700mhz now. It would undoubtedly take some time for them to get it up and online nationwide. Singtel's n28 has been operational for almost a year now.

Network slicing is not only about Singtel's tiering of plans, (MVNO vs Enhanced vs Priority). It is for the telco to discriminate data by application and use case. eg: messaging apps and bank apps may be given the highest priority, while video streaming apps could be given the most physical bandwidth, and speed tests/ software updates would be given the lowest priority.

So in theory, every user would see the same level of service when using essential apps (whatsapp etc) regardless if you are on the cheap $15 hi plan (/cheaper mvno plans) or on the $288 priority unlimited plan, however when watching netflix, the priority user's stream may load faster *if there is congestion*.

M1/Starhub just got the 700MHz spectrum (n28 and b28) on 1 July 2025. So they may take some time to deploy. Singtel has 8 months of advantage here.

Based on my own experiences, 700MHz band does improve the coverage of Singtel 5G (5G SA + 5G NSA) by quite abit. I seldom see that my Singtel S$15.28 SIM Only plan falls back to 4G LTE. In the weak signal area (say in some lifts), often it is like 5G SA to 5G NSA to no signal, or 5G NSA to no signal.

M1’s Allocation: 1 July 2025
Lower Band: 723 MHz – 728 MHz (5 MHz)
Upper Band: 778 MHz – 783 MHz (5 MHz)

StarHub’s Allocation: 1 July 2025
Lower Band: 728 MHz – 738 MHz (10 MHz)
Upper Band: 783 MHz – 793 MHz (10 Mhz)

Singtel's allocation: 1 November 2024
Lower Band : 703 MHz – 723 Mhz (20 MHz)
Upper Band : 758 MHz – 778 MHz (20 MHz)

So now starhub aldy deployed 700MHz? Since it has been about 6 months now...how to check my mobile is using this band? thx

Can network slicing be that granular? I was under the impression that it operates more akin to VLANs rather than deep packet inspection. So stuff like low latency critical IOT gets a "VLAN" that has a higher priority than say business users > priority users > regular users > mvno users > data-only sim > foreign roaming customers.

I feel a difference my NEL leh... Last time still got parts that have abit of broken or slow speed.. Then I switch to the 4x, now I pak game also smooth

I just port over to singtel priority plus plan from main m1 sop. During my circle line mrt journey from bishan to paya lebar , the priority plan performs abit better than my m1 sop but the m1 sop is only abit laggy at some stations only.iam just trying out for a few mths to see if it it's worth it to pay that much money to their priority plans only after that I will port out to other cheaper plans as I think I can lived with that few moments of underground lag from other cheaper telco plans ..

The cheapest way to get Singtel's 5G+ Priority 4X is to do the re-contract trick at $15.28 then add on the 5G+ Priority Pass
(6-month contract) at $17.90. Total $33.18 which is much cheaper than the $55 Priority Plus plan.

I just did a ownership transfer to my parents name to enjoy a 20% discount on priority plus plan so iam now paying $44 for 2 lines .the 2nd line is a free mobileshare plus line which I give to my wife to use for the share unlimited data .lol.
Actually there is another even cheaper way to get the 5g+ Priority 4x which is to sign up for the senior plan $6 than add on the priority pass = $23.90 per mth only. 😄 but take note one senior ID can only sign up 1 senior line only.
