Solid Gaming Rig?

Hi All,

Planning to assemble my gaming rig today, below is the list that I've assembled, need seniors here to advise

MSI B85-G43 Gaming+ i5-4570
MSI GTX 760 Hawk
Corsair TX650
Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB(2x4) 1600mhz
Plextor M5S 128GB
WD BLUE 500GB
Dell U2312M 23"
Windows 7 Home Premium( Should I get 32bit or 64bit?, whats the diff?)

Will be playing on 1080P, Budget is $1500, Achievable?. Also what Antivirus software for gaming would Seniors Recommend?. Planning to buy @ Tradepac

Umm.. No casing? That build should be around 1.5k to 1.6k with casing bah..

Check tradpac pricelist and see if you wanna take their bundle of gtx 760 + seasonic psu to lower your cost..

Get 64 bits windows. 32 bits windows can only detect up to around 3.2 GB of RAM..

64bit handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than a 32bit system. 64bit supports up to 16gb of rams and 32bit only supports up to 8gb.

Go for 64bit version.

lol..forgot to mention chassis, Planning either Sharkoon T28 or Corsair 500R. I understand the 500R is more ex, but I heard it provides better airflow. Noted. Will get the 64Bit.

If you are buying from Tradepac, go for their bundle promo. MSI TF GTX 760 & Seasonic M12 620W @ $499.
Corsair TX650
For GTX 760, 650W is an overkill. Go with the tradepac bundle instead for better value.
Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB(2x4) 1600mhz
Go for value ram since you don't intend to overclock. You are only paying extra for fanciful heat sink only.

If you want good airflow . Then invest abit in casing + fans . since probably the desktop gonna accompany you for at least 3 years .

I did a CM 690 III + add 4 GT fan . Quite happy with the air flow / temp inside my casing .

Can go for Win 8 if you want, almost same price as Win 7 in tradepac, $115 vs $120.

Plextor M5S $139, M5P is $149 in bliss, and I'm sure u can get that price at tradepac as well if you ask.
M5P of course faster than M5S, AND it has 5 years warranty, compared to 3 years on the M5S, for just $10 more

$1500 definitely can game on 1080p, dell monitor ultrasharp is a solid choice, but take note of the warranty period. Some shop may offer 5Y, some offer 3Y.

Antivirus just use MSE(Microsoft security essentials). If really want to pay, get Eset NOD 32(do NOT get smart security 6, unless you need the parental controls etc). Reason being it takes the least cpu power of almost any well known antivirus out there. Price also very reasonable, renewal only 20/yr for a single device.

I am using it even though I'm not a believer of antivirus stuff, parents insist. It is good and lightweight and never have any issues with it.
Can say don't feel like got antivirus running behind even when it's on lor, cos really very lightweight. Will auto go into gaming mode some more, make it more efficient, although normally already very efficient
