solidworks pc

hello,

currently have a friend who might want to build a pc for solidworks, probably no gaming, budget about 1.5k. so i read around abit and want to ask for more opinions on these qns:
1) some places say single core perf more impt than having more cores for solidworks, so in that case should i go for intel? how about the 3300x?
2) should i go for a quadro or regular gaming gpu? currently the highest performing quadro that fits in budget is the p2200, which is 1060 tier, while for the same money i could get a 2070 super. quadro rtx the card alone more than the budget. but i read that quadro is more optimised for solidworks also vs regular gpus.

he using solidworks for professional work or just a student learning solidworks?

If he is using solidworks mainly for engineering drawings and 3D stuff or for fluid and force simulation?

You should focus on cpu too because solidwork is also cpu-limited. Cpu usually become the bottleneck before the gpu. For your friend PC who doesn't game, just get a Quadro instead of a geforce. Overall, a lower end Quadro will still perform better than a higher end Geforce for solidworks.

from what i know, Solidworks is pretty much a 1 to 2 core application. So I would suggest to go for i7 or R7.

Since the usage is mainly for 3D works, gtx cards are sufficient. If you mainly do simulation, then you would benefit more from quadro cards.

If its a 1-2 cores application then a 4 cores are enough. Why spend more on 8 cores.

ok so basically from what ive read i think ill go with the 10600 non k (since i dont believe it will be oc-ed) and a quadro p1000.

any suggestions for the build? would like mini itx if possible. prices off dynacore.
cpu+mobo: i5 10600 + asus rog strix b460-i - $585
cooler: noctua nh-l9i - $60 taobao
gpu: leadtek quadro p1000 - $590
ram: klevv performance ddr4 2666 2x8gb - $96
ssd: wd black sn750 500gb - $90 amazon
case: mini itx case, havent researched yet
psu: either corsair sf450 or seasonic focus sgx 450, about $160

total: 1.6 - 1.7k

Err.. ITX setup for a engineering PC will be very hot.
Suggest go for mid/full sized casing.
Alternative if you can stretch to $2k,
Can consider getting a Dell Precision.

dont think it will be that much of a concern since i believe his workload is less of the sustained load like rendering but more bursty, so temperature should be under control with the right case. anyway dell precision also not say v good value and all refurb units, stretching to 2k is a 33% increase in budget which is not insignificant.
