Solo Trip in August - Advice please

Can anyone advise if 2 nights in Alishan is too much?
Also, because I am travelling solo + can't drive, is it easy to get around via public transport/on foot?

Will be going Taitung for the Balloon Festival as well. Any recommendations for Taitung sight-seeing?
