The problem is current society is very oppressive and elitist, mentality is once you mess up you can get cancelled for life, when you're in trouble less and less people help you out of pure generosity. Give love to your child your child happy but how much is too much that a child would become sheltered and find it difficult to stay strong and resilient in harsh environments outside of home? How little is too little that your child doesn't know how to love themselves or others? Better education does not equate to being better off in terms of maturity and/or socially adept.

Better paper qualification is only that, great in getting better paying jobs and can never guarantee to be a better human being.

It has been always been the burden of men to provide, with better paying jobs, many women don't require this and can live life w/o men, until old age catches them.

It has been many of decades this has been a problem. As education goes up, less are interested of marriage or have kids. Thus, a lower education level couple have more kids compare to the highly educated ones.

Although Singapore is a diverse religious place, we do not do enough to maintain our own identity. (Think Dubai)

There should be certain shared points that we can learn from them. The lack of family identity is losing its importance. These stems from the inability of families getting houses in the same area. If for eg siblings can bto in the same area, and given higher priority, or like parents etc.

Schools do not do enough to educate the young to our own unique identity. We have far too much international schools that choose to maintain their unique cultural identities. ( think independence and individuality)

When I look at our govt scholarship, its a joke. The amount of restrictions placed. Why should my kid be bonded and have no chance of reaping the riches of his inventions or his abilities and be constrained by a salary ceiling, where she can go into the private sector and get funding. If they allow scholars to have majority ownership of their own inventionsand success, then we will see more individuals going to the go the govt sector. So the govt sector will never attract the best. Only those who are only good enough but not rich enough to afford an overseas scholarship.

Most companies don’t want their employees to do any startup, and instead give them a stay and work on or leave and take the risk. So only those who have the financial ability to take the risk will do so. Which is why the rich get richer, because no one gets rick being an employee.

Hence our best will tend to leave for funding overseas. Is this what we want ?

The biggest factor is probably the opportunity cost of having kids in today's society, especially in Asian's pressure cooker society.

When COL is so high such that we have to work so much longer just to afford housing of our own. When strong independent women decide that kids just ain't worth sacrificing their freedom for. When uncertainties exist in every fabric of today's society, how easily our jobs can be made redundant by AI or cheaper offshore options.

There is only so much a government can do to influence the macro-economics of a nation, group-think and factors that are beyond the reach of their hands. Things can only change if there is a big upheaval in the way things are run in the modern developed society. Many government in power won't risk it as it could be akin to shooting themselves in the foot. They will only do it if it crosses the point of no return, which by then could be too late already.
