Hi all,

Everytime i open my file explorer my comp freezes (still can move mouse cursor) and it'll show file explorer not working before it closing. Recently saw my D drive stating need to format before use.

Currently my windows is in E drive and C drive for apps. (installed at nigel some years back) Is something wrong? Not really tech savvy pardon me.

Appreciate any help. I can still surf the internet and open Overwatch as usual though.

Thanks for the reply. If I don't open it will it be fine? Or is the file explorer etc under D drive hence the cause of the freeze.

your PC already hint and prompt you that Drive D need to be format.
That shows the drive is having problem etc , like bad sector ..
If you run window explorer it will need to read all the dive but drive D is having problem, thus it hang.
Try to transfer any important folder or file from your D drive to external Thumb drive and disconnect the drive from the PC.
This will solve your problem if Drive D is the culprit

Also why do you need to have 3 drive in the PC. These infact will slow down your PC.
SSD is cheap now. Advise to get a 512gb or ITB and do a fresh window installation on it and transfer your folder or file over. or get a secondary SSD for your work file is even better.

Thanks for your reply.. Makes sense, hence everytime my pc boot up they say restoring/fixing D DRIVE. Currently i cant open the d drive as they put need t o format. Don't think i have anything important inside besides photos and videos.

Anyway i can still try to go in? If not shall i just open my pc and unplug it?

If u do not have any important or data in D u can remove the drive (open casing and remove it).

I just did that. Now computer works as good. Shall I buy a new hdd to replace it? Or I'm sufficient w 2 ssd 1 with os installed and other w programs. Weird my photos videos still avail. Means I never save it in my D drive? I wonder what's in my D drive lol.

You can keep the Drive D aside for the time being and if free can go and buy the usb to sata cable and connect the 'D' as external drive. From there you might get your picture file hopefully. But if the 'D' cannot be detect by the PC , it means Mati already.

Lastly, if you still want to go deeper into troubleshooting or repair the drive then google info on how to do it. I have tried it many time. Successful rate is only 30%.
